Testing the NEW Phearable Stage 2 Hondata Multi-Tune with an FL5 Civic Type R!

Hondata released a new feature called "Multi-tune" which allows you to have multiple maps loaded onto one tune and you can change between them on the fly! This is similar to the Ktuner feature that allows you to cycle through different maps.

Diff turbo is mainly what you’re feeling brosef… FK8 will have more of traditional turbo “hit” where as the newer turbo is more linear, not as much of a crescendo. More effective but maybe not quite as thrilling… keynote, you can swap to the new turbo.

Stock FL5 here, I’ve seen 23.5psi boost in peak weather conditions. Regular conditions I hit 21-22psi

Hey Cam, I'm also Cam lol, I have a FL5, and I have a question, it may be a stupid question, not sure if you have the answer but I've been watching your content for a long time and you actually inspired me to get a Type R funny enough haha. So I'm super new to the car scene, the type r is actually my first car I've considered doing modifications on, I actually just ordered a RV6 catted downpipe and the AWE touring exhaust. My main question, or a guess the thing I need reassurance on is, if I was to purchase this tune package, would that be tuning for the parts I'm putting on as well? Or would I need to get the parts manually tuned? I don't yet really understand everything when it comes to tuning as you can tell lol. I appreciate it man! Also I don't comment very often so I just wanted to say a huge congrats on everything man, the content, your new addition to the family, and everything else! Congrats! When you buy the Phearable tune, you will have a box to type in all the modifications you have, and John will make sure the tune accommodates your car's setup.

The seats seem more comfortable in the fk8 type R to me, since you just drove them back to back what do think? Also the fk8 in comfort mode is a less bouncy softer ride compared to comfort mode in the fl5. In my opinion. The damper must be setup differently in the fl5, do we know if the spring rates are any different? Great video as always

I just finished my Etuning with phearable and he enable the multi tune map. I noticed when i pick a map, for example tune 2, the needle dont stay on the number and goes back to original function. However, on ktuner when you pick a map it stays on the number. Is that normal with hondata?

Cam, stick with your gut. The FL5 is nice of course. But there will always be something newer and nicer. Dropping the FK8 for the FL5 would not be your last move. It would open the can and one day the FL5 would be gone too for something nicer. You either keep the FK8 forever or commit to always getting the latest version. I wanted to keep my RSX-S forever. It started needing a lot of work and I gave in. I regret not still having it every day.

saw a video on the nurburgring pushing the fl5 to the limit and it did end up overheating just like the fk8. oil coolers seem to be essential if you want to track hard.

5:55 I owned a "2019" FK8 for 45,000 miles. I tunned it at aroudn 20k miles with a high flow cat, intercooler and intake from PRL. anyways I bounced of the rev Limiter multiple times everyday. I know for a fact that not a day would pass with out me bouncing of the limiter in 2nd or 3d but mostly 3rd. I always let the car warm up before driving and I always changed the oil early because its Direct Injection. I never had a single issue with the car, anyways at 45k miles I sold the car and The buyer Blew it up with in like a Week, NO JOKE like 4-5 days after and I am 90% sure it was becuase they tried to run antilag and some crazy 400+hp tune. My question for when I buy the FL5 (is it bad to bounce off the limiter ?)

Nahh i bounce every day as well. Anti-lag destroys this platform. Mines making 420hp and torque to the wheels for 35k miles now. No issues.

We traded for a 21 FK8, and FL5 literally within the same week at my dealership. The difference between the two is night and day. The FL5 is MUCH nicer in person, like it's not even close.

It depends. It’s not worth £21000 more than I paid for my FK8. £21000 goes along way to tuning my FK8. I drove the FL5 and yes it drives better but imo I think the FK8 looks better but the price is daylight robbery.

FL5 Turbo has more response and builds boost much quicker than the FK8 Turbo. I would have gotten a FL5 Turbo but I couldn’t find a good price on one :(

I’m actually making a build that’s going to be an automatic Type-R out of an 2023 Honda Civic Hatchback with a few Honda secrets in my modded car. Imma make a full video on the mods & the reveal. @@Camhill182 Im sure, but for a car this expensive, Id HIGHLY recommend waiting to dyno tune. Each car is different even with the same engine. Everyone lives in different areas and has different environmental factors that affect how your engine performs. While Modern ECU's do a good job correcting tables and preventing knock and other problems, it is just always ideal, when changing engine parameters, to have it done professionally on a dyno, to mitigate risk and maximize your cars performance for your specific situation. I am a Honda tech, and I have seen many blown motors from etunes and pre-programmed maps. Usually the people designing them tend to weigh on the safe side, which is good, but again, for a car this expensive, it is worth waiting and paying the $1,000 to get a professional dyno tune for your car. The etune and pre programmed maps are convenient though, I will not lie.

Exact opposite. The only reason to get a FK8 is if you can't afford the FL5, or you just really like the Micheal Bay's transformers look. Lol
