The level of petty that Anish Kapour went to to buy the right to vantana black was not just petty it was borderline criminal. He bought the rights to the bantams black then took it off the market. That’s petty but how he came to be able to buy the rights is rumored to be criminal. The vantana black absorbs 100% of light. It’s incredible to look at and tricks your brain. The VB was purchased under suspicious means and then taken away from manufacturing and use by artists. For some artists whom had already made works of art consisting of large amounts of time, effort and money in other materials those paintings or art work were deemed un able to be sold due to the vanta black in the art itself. It was a real shit show and Kapour was an asshole the whole way about it. Even this Black 3.0 doesn’t hold a candle to vanta black. There’s a video about its properties or effects on KZbin.

Yeah it sucks the top coats didn’t work well with it but we don’t even know how well it stays without the top coat. It says it doesn’t need a protective layer but yeah you never know since it’s on nails. I still think if it worked it would still be cool for an event or just if you wanted it for a little bit.

I really want to see it done. I would suggest - not buffing, painting the under side of the tip, than seal the under side, and than gluing it to the nail. I'm pretty sure it would work. And that way she can w8 for the FULL 24h recommended dry time before sealing it. Any decorations can go later on top

There's actually a good reason. Bean boy purchased the rights to Vanta black after production and distribution had happened. There are art works not by bean boy that can no longer be sold or distributed because of the color on the art. This is also bad scientifically because that was the original purpose of the pigment was for scientific study. Artists were just like "cool new color" and bean boy went asshole because he was one of the best paid artists at the time.

I can't remember who, but another art youtuber tried this paint and a lot of the comments said that the "mirror" paint has very specific ways of application to get it to actually work. I believe on the website it explains them. If i remember correctly, it says something about only going one way with the brush strokes, an extremely thin coat, and some other stuff :)

After Kapoor bought the exclusive rights for artistic use of Vantablack, Stuart Semple created The Pinkiest Pink as an artistic statement I guess, which Kapoor was forbidden to use. Kapoor got some and posted a picture of his middelfinger dipped in it. Temple then set out to produce the blackest black. Not sure if Kapoor got his hands on that one though.

As far as I heard it was like this: Once upon a time there was a little bean boy who heard that someone had created a suuuuper deep black paint and called it vantablack. Bean boy is selfish and rude so he bought all the rights to it so legally he could be the only person in the world allowed to use it. Problem is, vantablack is pretty toxic, like it has to be applied in a lab and it can get so hot it can burn you if you touch it. Now, when our hero Stuart Semple heard of this he said: "um no, that's rude." So he decided to create a pigment that was the "pinkest pink" in the world and specifically make it available to everyone EXCEPT bean boy. This made bean boy mad but no one cares. There was a whole Facebook event created to "paint the bean pinkest pink" just to make bean boy even more mad. Stuart liked bean boy being mad so he also made a black paint but it was even DARKER than vantablack, he called it black 2.0. It wasn't quite dark enough though, so he made black 3.0. To top it all off these paints we're all non toxic and black 2.0 even smelled like cherries. Legend has it, bean boy is still mad today. The end-ish ♥️

You should try putting the mirror on top of the black. The absorbed light on the bottom and smoother surface with the paint might help the mirror effect translate more clearly.

I use makartt polygel and/or their nail hardener which is just a thin builder gel you can paint on easily as my base nail safety net also! I noticed it's when I file or remove that I was damaging my nails so I started using that to show me when I've done too much! Actually, the darkest black is Musuo Black which absorbs basically all light
