And other thing is that all of the bags were opened already. The angled cut is meant to make the opening smaller, so the clip keeps the stuff in the bag fresh.

Not even that but you are not supposed to cut all the way either. All his bags were 100% open. For example with the 3D doritos bag was new you would have only cut the angle not the whole thing. The "big bag" tests he did were all wrong. But still great examples.

The cereal bag would work acceptably but I think you would need to fold the unclipped end in and clip it so the cereal won’t go stale.

On the second gadget, you cut at the angle BEFORE they’re opened at all, so there’s no opening other than in the clip!

With the bigger bags the bag clip would work best if they were not already open. The intention is to cut at an angle from the start so as to have the perfect size opening for the nozzle.

Clearly the device would work fine with large unopened bags, cut to fit. If you use it on large already opened bags of course it isn't magically able to reseal something you cut open yourself. You literally cut a hole somewhere that isn't designed to be sealed by the product.

A friend of mine is Italian. Another friend asked me to prove that she was Italian, as she has no Italian accent. "Sure thing", I said. When she showed up I pretended to continue a conversation as follows: ""...so then you break the spaghetti in half so it fits inside the pan and you throw a bar of margarine in the boiling water..." He learned how a horrified Italian screams about food done the wrong way. Out came the accent, and a bunch of colorful words.

Part of the angle problem is that you're testing it on pans, not pots. Pans have a more curved angle and pots have more of a straight angle. It is a bonus to see that it works on both.

I think your bag clip would work better on big bags if they are brand new. That’s why they ask you to cut at an angle, by only clipping the corner, you keep the rest of the bag sealed. But great job on this video! You have now created needs for me! 😂

I have the first clip, I got mine from a kitchen outlet store. I’ve had it for over 10 years (probably more like 20). I only use it on saucepots, but recently used it to hold my instant pot liner in place while I stir the contents, while it’s hot. The dip clip looks cool, maybe I’ll get some!

I have the first clip, the one that clips to a pan’s side and holds a utensil. I like it and use it often. Note that the black rubbery areas are NOT rubber or plastic but silicone, so it is easily cleaned and heat resistant. Where it really shines is with a big pot in which you are cooking, say, soup or sauce. The upright edges of the pot hold the handles of the kinds of big spoons and spatulas I use, which are either flat or have a circular stainless steel cross section. The drips go into the pot, the utensil handle stays cool, and I save scarce working surface space. The only two potential downsides are interference with putting a lid on the pan and, as you saw, that extra-thick handles on utensils are not compatible. I’m surprised you paid less than a dollar for yours.
@jimdreger4626
@jimdreger4626 3 жыл бұрын
The problem I see with the pot clip is that when I'm using a spoon with the pot, it's usually a sauce of some sort and I want a cover on the pot. The clip would get in the way. Spoon rest on the stove works just fine.

The dipping cups are just an extra item to wash and nobody I know has ever had a problem dipping off the plate or the box your nuggets come in. The pouring device for the last item you used if you double the end back it will lock under the clip/arm, no problem, simples.

I can see how something like the dip holder gadget shown in the car can be useful in this situation vs a container box on the plate that slides around a lot. Ideally, you don't have anything extra to clean as the dip container is just thrown out.

Love your reviews, you are my "go to" person if I am contemplating some new purchase. Usually you are so logical but today I think you missed the point. 😄Surely the main point of the bag clip is to SEAL the bag - having an open bag and then cutting the corner and only sealing that bit isn't going to work - the air will come in from the unsealed part! Aren't you supposed to cut across a corner only on an UNOPENED bag - like a cereal bag where you know you are not going to finish in one sitting? Then the pour part becomes a bonus - you have sealed food and also easy access. Back to the clip - if you HAVE opened the whole top of the bag and THEN decide you aren't going to eat it all in one go, then you fix the clip across the whole of the top, scrunching the surplus into the clip. Just like you would with a regular bag clip! 😄

OMG! I’ve never seen these types of clips before - I like the one that goes on the bag and you pour from it. That would be perfect for my cat food bag. And the dip clip is rather interesting too. I always struggle with dips in small cups taking up space on my dish. This absolutely solves that problem! Who thinks up all this stuff? I would never have thought these up even after struggling with the issues they solve. I guess my imagination isn’t up to par. And I can’t say enough how much I love this channel. You make it so interesting. BTW, I had a “Bailey” too. Of the dogs I’ve had, she was definitely a top favorite. She’s been gone 12 years and I still miss her like crazy. 🐕‍🦺

I have the plate clips and was surprised to see the little rubber piece fell off. I have been using mine for months now and I have never had that occur. I love my plate clips but thanks for doing the video. I will be keeping my out eye for any defective models, LOL.

For the bag clip: I grew up using similar ones, but without the spout. You can fold the bag, so it closes it completely air tight, otherwise it won't stop the food from going stale. I can't judge about these specific ones with the spout, but the ones we had, we used forever. The plastic at the closing mechanism seems pretty flimsy, but they held up for many years and worked well.

You had problems with the pot clip because it's for a pot with straight sides, not a pan with slanted sides. "Pot" clip. : ) My thoughts for the bag clip: maybe if you folded the excess over to fit under the long part of the clip it may work better. I don't know since I wasn't the one handling it. I have the pot clips and plate clips - they work really well. Thanks for the vid!

when putting the bag clip on a bag, I think it would be best if you dont have the bag cut first. should be the original cut or it will let the food go bad

Yeah that's why I tried not cutting it with the almonds, to see if I could avoid cutting it at all. I tend to agree that would be better whenever possible.

@@Freakinreviews I have some of this style of bag clip (without the spout) of varying lengths. They seal bags pretty well in my experience. You just seem to have missed the part of the instructions where it said to ONLY cut the corner off the bag to insert the spout, not to open the bag all the way if it's wider than the clip. If you make the small corner cut a bit too large, depending on the material, you can fold a bit over and still seal the entire opening within the clip. The hole of a fully opened bag of cereal is way too large to seal within the clip, which is why they say to only cut a corner open *instead* of opening the bag fully. These aren't your traditional chip clips, they struggle with openings that can fit your entire hand into them :P

I have the dip clips in my house and use them all the time, love them, probably at least two years old at this point. I don’t have that dispenser pour style bag clip but regular ones that are very similar in closure style. For bigger bags that are too wide just fold the excess over on itself to seal. Imagine it would work the same with that pour spout style.

I don’t care for the chip clip, but all the others are now on my list to buy! Love the dip clip!!

I just ordered the bag clips and the dip bowls on Amazon. 😋 The bag clips are exactly what I need for the 1 kg bag of rice I usually buy and it will fit perfectly. I have an idea of how to use it on a cereal bag too, just don't open the entire bag, only cut an opening wide enough for the clip to fit in and where the clip closes, cut a notch out of the top of the sealed bag and use that to snap the clip closed. Should work like a charm.

Hey James, nice video. I have used the same type of bag clip, but without the pour spout. I have had to bunch up the "extra" open bag top, to close the bag. That might works with the "cereals" bags, that the cereal fits through the spout. Just a suggestion.

With those bag clips you'd cut at an angle so that you don't have the entire bag open for larger bags. If you were trying it on pre-cut bags like you have that aren't cut right it is going to present problems unless you fold.
