What’s the trick for vallejo paints I’ve been trying model air and model color I’m using an Iwata esclipes hp-cs at 20-25 lbs the primer I use Paasche h at 25 psi for primer any advice is appreciated
@screwf4ce12 жыл бұрын
@@jerrycarnesjr6440 Thinning is everything. .35 is a pretty decent size needle. I spray Vallejo through a .18. Its all about thinning. I usually use the vallejo thinner and a bit of the flow improver. It really needs to look like milk. It all depends on what you are painting, how close or far away you are, how heavy or light you are trying to lay down the layer. But at the end of the day for me the trick with vallejo has always been thinning and a little flow improver. A little of that paint goes a long way.

@@screwf4ce1 can you help me figure out how much paint does it usually take to paint a 1/24-1/25 car body I’m trying to get used to acrylic paints health issues I had to stop using enamels and lacquers I use both model color and model air and game colors too also would like to use createx wicked colors but they seem like too hard to mix I want to explore all option while still enjoying modeling since I had to switch paints it not much fun been on same model over a year testers model master used to be my paint of choice I could do three kits a month now in a rut can’t find anyone to help the transition smoother plus a lot has to do with psi my Iwata says 25-30 but doesn’t seem to flow good especially Vallejo primers thanks for any more advice you can offer sorry this was so long
@screwf4ce12 жыл бұрын
@@jerrycarnesjr6440 That's a tall order but I know you will get there. First off with Vallejo primer I typically shoot around 20 - 23 PSI but I never use it directly out of the bottle. I still use a little thinner and flow improver. I do not do ratios or measuring, I always mix directly in the cup. Here is what I always do first, I drop a few drops of flow improver into the cup before anything else. then I spray just flow improver through the brush just for a quick second, I do not spray it all out, just one second. For me this just helps to get things all set up and ready to spray. Then I add a few drops of thinner, still no paint at this point. Then I will drop in a few drops of the paint that I want. I have an old paint brush that I use just for mixing, I mix it up right in the air brush cup... I check the consistency, if its kind of like milk then I will spray a little bit on a sheet to see if it sprays ok. I never put paint directly in the cup without first adding thinner and flow improver then mix. If you do this enough you will not need to worry about measuring, everything will be done by sight and testing. It sounds like a process but its really very fast. I have noticed, like in many of Rex's vids, you want to do layers, lay down thin at first then build up. Again sounds like its tedious but its really not. Getting to know how to thin properly was the biggest first step for me, after than other things kind of fell into place over time.
@screwf4ce12 жыл бұрын
@@jerrycarnesjr6440 Also, I live in Japan so there is Tamiya paint easily available to me here. That is the paint I first started with. I used Rex's video about how to thin a whole pot of tamiya paint with Mr.Hobby Leveling Thinner. Its a no brainer, so simple and then the whole pot is ready for the air brush. I found that Tamiya paint when using Rex's thinning method just makes it so easy and very forgiving with an airbrush. If you are doing auto or aircraft I can certainly recommend trying the tamiya method as well.

Consider reviewing cheap craft varnishes! Brands like decoart, liquitex and others have varnishes, presumably for things like paintings, that are cheap and available at every craft store. Around 3.50 for a 2 oz bottle. I can't find much content about it online and I almost picked one up today to try it. Said it was polyurethane based. Modge podge is another one, although the back of the bottle says it will have a tacky finish unless you apply another product that I don't remember.

@@barbatosrex9473 I've referenced that video many times. I am talking about varnishes. I can see the qualities of the paints, but a varnish calls for different things and so can be expected to excel in those areas more. Areas like durability, finish, touch sensation, and clarity. I can't tell from your response if you knew that already or if you just wanted to recommend your video on the paints regardless, but the varnishes I have seen are not a part of the same product line as the paints you have shown, they are simply the same brand, which, in some cases, simply signifies which store they are sold in. You know i have think eversince gundam marker made their airbrush to be used with markers. I was expection gsi creos or tamiya or some other person to make a marker and tank combo airbrush or a cheap plastic or something similar airbrush with a small compressor to paint pladt8c models in markets easy but its still all metal and airbrushing is still kinda pricy i m trying to find a decent budget aircompressor which is hard in this country as air cans are not shipped.

is it possible to mix a color like only have Black and orange which then behave like a chameleon

I don't know if anyone has told you this, but you are filming ultra-wide video's, but exporting them as normal wide-screen with black bars on the top and bottom. This makes it so that when watching your videos on a ultra-wide monitor it has a thick black border around the entire video.

That's strange, when I watch them here it looks normal, no black lines at all

@@barbatosrex9473 You are probably on a normal 16:9 or 16:10 monitor. So your intro is probably proper full-screen, however the lovely shooting with your camera have a black border on top and bottom.

"they do a lot of greens", i'm gonna wadger that's one part our eye's sensitivity to green, and the other part green's nearly central position in the visible spectrum. The shifting is an angular phenomenon, and so there's only so far you can shift in one paint, or rather, it might be a tradeoff between range and spread. Point is, there's a limit to the amount of shifting you can achieve in a certain area imposed by the available view angles etc. So green provides a good bookend to either shift towards a cooler or warmer hue, while probably allowing the mix to carry more of the pigment our eye is less sensitive to, a blue or red etc., because it doesnt have to carry as much green for that end of the shift to register as Saturated.

Hey quick question for you, my setup is an Iwata Neo/Iwata Ninja combo so limited to 20 PSI. Would I still be able to use these paints as easily as you if I replace my .35 needle with a .5? Or will I still need to thin these out a bunch due to using sub 20 PSI?
@barbatosrex94732 жыл бұрын
The 0.5mm should do it. Grab a small bottle of Vallejo Flow Improver, a few drops in each batch of paint will help

@@barbatosrex9473 Awesome I'm going to go ahead and order the new needle setup and paints then! :D thanks a bunch for the reply, this is my 1st air brush setup and your channel has been so informative ^^

Do you think any of these colors could work for colors for a RoboCop model/figure? 🤔
@barbatosrex94732 жыл бұрын
Isnt Robo Cop silver? Or chrome

@@barbatosrex9473 eeehhhh, not really. The original movie had him in this blue/purple shift, kind of, and then the second movie really accentuated those colors, then the third turned him very silver. So it's kind of all over the place, so I guess I'm thinking of more the first movie. 🤔
