Lived in China for a few years, you're spot on for the sauce. A dipping suace is usually left up to the individuals preference. Most resturants will have a bunch on different sauces and oils sitting on a table and you just add to a bowl the different levels of soy, vinegar etc, depends on you. That's been my experience anyways :)

You should use flavored cream cheese for the wontons like chive, jalapeño or garden veggie and just add to that. Also, you could air fry the angel food cake and make a tequila simple syrup to dab on after or a tequila whipped cream. Love your content!!!!!
@divinelyengineered2 жыл бұрын
Ooh a tequila simple syrup is a good idea. Or a glaze made with powdered sugar, tequila, and lime juice. That would get you some actual booze content if desired.

Not sure who has commented yet! But A bit of Mirin is amazing as to add to a dipping sauce! It's just a sweeter rice wine vinegar technically. It has a tiny bit more alcohol content, but it's small enough to buy at normal grocery stores without ID.
@lss87132 жыл бұрын
Mirin is a cooking wine with a high sugar content and is definitely not usually used in an uncooked sauce. Typical applications are marinades, braising liquids, or things like teriyaki sauce. Adding sugar to rice vinegar or just using rice vinegar which has a natural sweetness would work and give acidity.
@silverpalm2 жыл бұрын
@@lss8713 I’d agree that cooking it down is really good, but it’s pretty frequently used in an uncooked state too! When making sushi it’s really common to use a tiny bit of mirin in the rice after cooking to help a bit with the stickiness of the rice and to lend a tiny bit of flavor to the rice. Let’s be honest… mirin is the best 😂 using it is just the right move… sparingly haha. Because it’s a bold flavor.
@lss87132 жыл бұрын
@@silverpalm Mirin in sushi rice is pretty uncommon. If it is added (which is rare), it's usually cooked down with other ingredients like rice vinegar, sugar, and salt then cooled before it's added to the rice. In any case, if you've enjoyed it, then you're free to be creative with how you use it!
@kaivickers1662 жыл бұрын
I love mirin for my many Asian endeavors and I order it from Amazon in a liter bottle.
@alexissyhavong13582 жыл бұрын
Mirin is typically cooked out like a normal wine but aji-mirin is used for sauces! I wouldn’t put mirin in the sauce since you already have black vinegar and that gives it the acidity component already. Also adding scallions and cilantro would be extra yummy too!

Ok for your dipping sauce: My hubby is Japanese and this is what his family does. You want equal parts soy sauce and rice vinegar, and ⅛ of whatever your soy sauce/rice vinegar measurement will be your measurement for the chili oil, then add scallions to it. Example: 1 tsp soy sauce and vinegar + ⅛ tsp chili oil + chopped scallion It sounds super simple but I promise it's absolutely delicious! I could drink the stuff by itself. 🤤😋

At the fair they had vodka shots one year so I had to try them…wow they were strong! But they froze the vodka (they had to add gelatin or something to it to freeze solid). Then battered and fried them. That’s how you get a true fried shot! Each ball was like taking a shot of straight vodka… could try with tequila and a dripping sauce that tasted like other ingredients of a peach margarita

I do air fryer wontons a lot, because my entire family really enjoys them. So just some tips for those. l I almost always use garlic powder or fresh minced garlic in my cream cheese wontons, it helps cut the very strong flavor of cream cheese down. when making the cream cheese w/scallions wontons, try making the filling before and letting it sit in the fridge for maybe half a day? you get a much better and stronger onion flavor. cream cheese with crab meat (often imitation crab meat) is a very popular recipe in the asian american area near me, it could be because I live on a coast though. lastly, for dipping sauces. though oil based sauces work, alot of times I use either sweet and sour/duck sauce, a Sriracha based sauce (cream or honey usually), or a sweet chili sauce.
