I absolutely love my air fryer. But things taste better and crispier when the bottom insert isn’t covered in foil. It’s essentially a convection oven and needs full air flow to properly work. Also, I find shaking or flipping things is essential (thinking of the French toast) to get evenly cooked food when cooking from raw.

The issue is the foil. You’re not actually air frying because you’re blocking the circulation of the air, you wouldn’t have the bottom issue if you didn’t have the foil. It’s a problem with air fryers, I hate how hard mine is to clean, but foil isn’t a good option.

I have seen something about air fryer sheets that have holes in them they are like parchment paper with holes in the shape of the air fryer tray. You can buy them off Amazon. Any use one each time you use their fire and that way the bottoms also get crispy because the air can flow through everything instead of using foil at it stops the air from flowing through the bottom. I have an air fryer that I have not used that I think I'm going to purchase those sheets off Amazon before I use my air fryer maybe your French toast would have been cooked on the bottom as well

I spray my pans with oil and things don't stick too bad or if Im going to flip my item, I use parchment. To clean I use Dawn Powerspray and into my dishwasher. They come clean everytime. Also the Pampered Chef airfryer has a glass window so you can see and also a rotisserie

If you haven't named your air fryer yet - call her Freya (Nordic goddess' name) or if it's a "he" then Freyr (Freya's twin brother in the Nordic mythology). EDIT: just realised that "Freyr" is a perfect anagram of "fryer" XD it's late where I am, ok? XD

I highly recommend the power air dryer oven. It has trays and a window to see what you are cooking. I cook so much more in mine. I switched over from a traditional to this one. Love it!!

Yes, please do the whole series 🤗 I’ve got one too and there are still so many recipies to try out. Let’s give this post like so Rachel can see it.👍🏻

Highly recommend checking the basket halfway through your expected cook time and giving a good shake to rustle/flip some of the contents. It also gives you a chance to see how quickly it’s cooking.

So for cookies, I use frozen costco dough. I have it in my insignia at 305 for 10-12, I check at 8 and then gauge from there. Usually takes the whole 12 tho, no burning and not raw in the middle 😊

Forgot to mention, I do cookies on parchment, no parchment while preheating, and then on it once it's preheated because they will just sink through the grates while cooking.

I use the air fryer ALL THE TIME! I make steak (often), brussel sprouts, green beans, cauliflower, etc. OFC you need to try to make fried chicken. I'll echo the suggestions below. If you can, don't put in foil, as it blocks the air flow. I preheat often and get better cooking. Enjoy trying new recipes!

Share your brussel sprout recipe! Mine came out absolutely awful 😬

@@Smaugette Happily! Rinse and halve about a pound of brussel sprouts. I use a few tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, and then sprinkle salt and pepper. I air fry at 400 degrees for maybe 8 minutes. I check and shake every 3 minutes. I like them cooked and green but easy to fork. I typically drizzle a balsamic glaze over when they're done. Another option is less EVOO and add in bacon during cooking. If you do that, put cheap bread in the bottom of the AF to collect the extra bacon grease (and avoid it smoking).

🙋🏼♀️Hi Rachael, I wanted to mention that one of the best breads for French toast is brioche. It has this wonderful taste and texture that just works so well with French toast. Another good bread for French toast is of course French bread. It has the kind of texture that can handle being soaked in and egg wash and not fall apart, because the best part of a really good French toast is to have a nice custard to dip the bread into. BTW you might want to try adding a little Orange rind or orange flavor to your egg mixture next time. It really adds a great little boost of flavor.

When opening cans of dough, I always whack it on the edge of the counter. This way, I'm expecting the sound of it hitting the counter so the sound of it popping isn't startling
