🎉Summary: 1) Paula’s choice 2% BHA exfoliant - for oily acne prone skin. (Tip: using hands instead of cotton pad will reduce waste. Use 2-3 times a week) 2) Revlon oil absorbing roller - good for oil skin but MUST wash the volcanic stone daily! 3) Vaseline- slugging is good for winter. And be careful of masks and humidity (summer) to avoid breakouts. Aquaphor, Homeoplasmine and Weleda is also used for slugging. 4) Dr Jart SPF 30 colour correcting treatment for rosacea. 5) Hair dryer brush- easy blowout for quick hairstyle

I love the Paula's Choice BHA! I actually have very dry skin (plus live in a very dry climate at elevation in CO) so I was very hesitant to use it because many chemical exfoliants can feel very harsh for me. But because I wasn't exfoliating my skin enough I developed a bunch of clogged pores that made my skin texture a mess. After using the Paula's Choice regularly for a few weeks my skin texture improved a ton and now I only use it occasionally if I'm having a breakout.

Is it better than other BHA exfoliants or is it the fact that it's a BHA exfoliant that makes it good? I was curious about whether I need to adapt my skincare to my period? And if so, how? I get oilier and more blackheads so my first thought was more BHA but then not sure if the correct way is to do the opposite and cut any actives? Or no changes as it's the long routine rather than the short changes? The whole thing is so confusing!
@JasminMiettunen Жыл бұрын
Most people don’t change it, so if you can use the same routine it’s fine. If you want to combat the oiliness and blackheads, you could use different products during that time, it should be fine? I'm not a dermatologist but I don’t see any reason to not use actives during your period, and I’ve never heard any dermatologist say that. Just make sure you don’t overexfoliate, if you already use BHA and want to use more during your period! Shouldn’t exfoliate more than three times a week. Maybe try changing your other products, like switch to a foaming cleanser and a lighter moisturiser?

I can give a partial answer, but I'm also curious what Dr Sherene says. [I'm an amateur cosmetic formulator and have researched oils a little. But there's a ton I don't know.] All oils are made up of different amounts of different fatty acids and other chemicals. (Everything is made of chemicals.) The different things in each oil or butter, natural or lab-created, give each oil different properties. Some are good for all skin, some are not good, and some are good for some skin but not others. Without going to my references I couldn't tell you what makes each oil special ... there are so many! The reference material can be looked up online. I also can't recommend one oil over another - I'm not in that business. By the way, natural oils can vary in composition (and effect) from batch to batch, depending on where they come from, the weather the year they grew, how they are refined, etc. One reason big manufacturers use lab-created oils is consistency - every batch of mineral oil is identical. This makes quality control much easier. [There's nothing bad about mineral oil, it's a super-refined oil with nothing special about it except that it's oily.]

Cleansers are usually a good place to start because they often have less BHA, and even if they have a high amount, you rinse them off. That way you can gauge your sensitivity. Some brands claim you can use those exfoliating cleansers daily but don’t do that! Maybe for someone with super thick, strong, oily skin, but definitely not for sensitive skin. It’s still exfoliation and you should only do it 1-2 times a week.

Can you please please please create content about Cosrx and the snail concept within the serum and creams! To me, it just popped out of nowhere and I’m curious! Does it help with acne? Also can you make a video about amino acids and acne?

Could you do a video on reducing stretch marks? I haven't seen too many professionals on KZbin talk about it!

The Paula's Choice BHA sadly did nothing for my skin... I have a pretty oily T-Zone and am struggling with hormonal acne right now, haven't noticed any improvement after several months of using it. If someone has the same problems, I'd recommend trying a low-% retinol instead, I've seen improvements pretty quickly with that

Ya a lot seem to not have a positive experience with this product. I don’t know why people think just because a product is popular means that it will work for everyone 🤷🏻♀️
