The flaps will do some work for you. Fishing in the small creeks, you'll find their preferences change at times and under certain conditions, certain topwater will prevail. Also, the more you pressure that area, the more they will condition. Just keep playing with them. It's awesome that you have a stretch of creek that is the fish are nuts for topwater; and good sized ones to boot! Nice work from the little yak!

What's a budget rod and reel. Alot of musky being caught in Kentucky, creeks and cave run
@absoluteunitmedia2 жыл бұрын
What’s the budget. You’d save several hundred going to a daiwa Lexa 400 and a st croix mojo musky and still have a very good setup. Much Below that price point i’d have to do some research. In general u want a reel with a lot of line pickup per turn of the handle and my preference is 8’6” heavy rod if most of your fishing is from a boat, 8’ if mostly from shore or kayak.

Alot of times when your getting lots of follows. Color change or a little action change fires them up. The fat B promotes more strikes because the color changes as the tail rotates. Add a few colored dots staggered on the tail for better results. Flap tailsget more strikes if you also brake up the rhythm. Adding color to just one side of the blade perks thier interest. And with the twin post design...changing the material of just one post, to promote more strikes and less follows. Man...doing a surface figure 8 from the yak is a magic trick. Turn your 8 into a vertical figure 8 running the loops under water. Be prepared to get hit on the dive!
