Beautiful huge fish from a likely overlooked stream. Really hope you can get a fishing kayak sometime with foot pedal propulsion so you can simply stow the paddle.

I get the same quality muskies down here in Tennessee. It's like a little secret club on a tiny little creek half the size of the creek you are fishing. I catch a lot of 30 to 40 inchers but every now and then a giant comes along. 51in is my pb. Get a sit on top it makes it alot easier.

That’s a good spot you are at and those fish do get pressure there. There’s a good bit of guys that regularly drift those spots.

When I get I fish in a tend to hold the end or near of my rod and hold the line it's way easier to get them too the net, mind you I fish brown and rainbow trout in New Zealand, and I also have a little trout net, but stil
@absoluteunitmedia2 жыл бұрын
Ya I have a feeling grabbing the line would be a big mistake in this case 😂
@austinnelson53422 жыл бұрын
What rod and reel are you using? I've been looking for a combo that would be nice for kayak fishing big baits like these. Also great work man
@absoluteunitmedia2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Rod: 8 ft st croix legend tournament “top n tail” (MH power, fast action) reel: Shimano tranx 400HG with 100 lb braid plus steel leader
@austinnelson53422 жыл бұрын
@@absoluteunitmedia do you find casting and handling the 8 ft in a kayak harder than a 7
@absoluteunitmedia2 жыл бұрын
@@austinnelson5342 no not really...the bigger issue is the big lures. like if a lure has too much resistance like a bucktail or jerkbait it pulls the boat forward and it's basically impossible to use.

Great Fish for what you where fishing in. Where does this lead to a lake or river. To get that big it has to have quite the abundance of Fish to eat or it migrates to much deeper water and Fish don't feel hooks they have no nerve endings in their mouth.
@absoluteunitmedia2 жыл бұрын
I hear you but I just measured on google maps and there’s over 15 miles of creek before it dumps into a larger water body with mostly extremely shallow water in between. Id be very surprised if it goes back and forth. As crazy as it sounds I think it just got that big in the creek
@C0nfusedCsGo2 жыл бұрын
what exactly is free spooling? when you mentioned he didnt break your rod because you knew to free spool
@absoluteunitmedia2 жыл бұрын
Free spooling as in I clicked the free spool button as if I was gonna cast and the just applied resistance with my thumb. It’s because for musky fishing (casting not trolling) you often have the drag all the way tight for hooksets and getting them in quick. But if u get a real big one pulling hard at boat side u either have to loosen the drag during the fight, or do the free spool thing
@absoluteunitmedia2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t freespool the last time I had a fish that big in the kayak and the rod broke: CRAZIEST MUSKY BATTLE EVER!!! MONSTER FISH! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fp-XlXx6qa94iac

Really nice fish dude! Have you bought a lock box for that FB yet? If not I would consider investing if I were you lol!

I bought a back up and honestly the old one has a high pitched squeak when it’s runnin that the new one doesn’t…I think it’s from getting hammered so many times! 😂
@MattVavrochFishing2 жыл бұрын
@@absoluteunitmedia you will find that from time to time you happen to get “the one” with baits, it’s a 1 in 100 or 1 in 1000 lure that just has something weird or off about it and it just gets chewed, that FB you got us def one of those. I have a flap that has 3-4 fish on it, got another one as a backup, doesn’t even sound close to the same so I just sold it knowing it would never get thrown.
@cannonball73222 жыл бұрын
so is it true that catching muskie and pike in warm water over 70° can possibly kill them? I'd ask if you ever came back the next day and seen one belly up but I don't expect a answer.
@absoluteunitmedia2 жыл бұрын
No. You’re thinking of 80. And they say that mainly about musky not pike..
