That was a great video, I learned allot, I never worked on drive motor before, but with your video I am confident that now I can, I just bought a skid steer my self I hope I did not over pay it’s a 1987 model 741 Bob Cat, I was told drive side motor was bad, it had new tires, I payed 5k for it, I am thinking of doing this drive motor rebuild on my channel and I also want to service it and paint it, I am a diesel mechanic and work on Mercedes diesels, but I am hoping I can figure it put on a bobcat 😊 thanks for the video, Btw I subscribed and hit a like 👍

Thank you so much, 5k is a good price if it starts and runs, even if the drive motor is not able to be rebuilt, they are relatively inexpensive.

I had the exact problem with my bobcat 751 (it looks like exactly the same drive motor as well) also did a video about it way back when... The plastic and rubber combo weird seal was totally smashes in bits when i opened the motor up, just like yours. Now all i got is a belt squeel when i try to do some heavy torque work with it. Should try to change out the belts and make sure it has some good tension on it.
@tetradgroup3 жыл бұрын
I would definitely change out the drive belt and probably the tensioner as well. I have a video on exactly how to do that but I'm sure you are already know how saying is you've rebuilt a drive motor you obviously know what you're doing. Thanks for the comment, let me know if you have any more questions

The best videos on Bobcat repair on KZbin...by far. Thanks. We have pulled and resealed a few motors with varying results. We sometimes notice that the geroller is loose and some of the pins slide out quite easily. NO scaring or blueing. Is this normal or a sign of wear and time for replacement.

I think my charge pump is also going bad. Left side drive feels weaker and you have to push the sticks way far forward to go wide open. And my belt squeals every time I go to do a rotation. Great video! Thank you.
@tetradgroup3 жыл бұрын
Charge pump would maintain pressure in the system but the charge pump is mainly used for lift and tilt and has nothing to do with drive. Drive is controlled by the hydrostatic pumps. First thing I do is change your belt and get proper tension on it and see if that helps.

I get the torque specs from the bobcat service manuals, sometimes a google search will have the specifications listed. As far as the Milwaukee impacts, I use many of them, the 1/2 high torque is awesome, and the 3/8 fuel stubby M12 is a must have.

Hope you can help me - my 1979 730 has no governor on Wisconsin engine I just installed. Arms go up and down quickly at higher rpm, however the machine barely moves forward/backward, sometimes seems to surge and starts bucking, unable to climb even small grade. I parked it against block of concrete - cannot spin tires. Do these sound like symptoms of a weak drive motor? I started convincing myself it's my missing engine governor...

Hello sir, I am having problems with a bobcat t250. On the advanced display it is showing low charge pressure and getting a lot of feed back in the sticks when trying to push or turning but no codes. The drive belt is new, the tensioner is new, the case drain filter is new and showed no signs of extensive metal coming from either of the drives, there is no hydraulic fluid mixing with gear oil. The hydraulic filters and oil are both new. Is it possible the charge pump is just weak and could be replaced?
@Totaltree1 Жыл бұрын
I should probably add that the machine has been ran low of fluid by the previous owner. I bought the machine with many leaks and many issues.
@tetradgroup Жыл бұрын
Need to verify charge pressure first. Could be low charge pressure or the hydrostatic pumps themselves
@Totaltree1 Жыл бұрын
@@tetradgroup I will check the charge pressure, thanks! Do you know what charge pressure should be for a 2004 model? I do not have a service manual.
@Totaltree1 Жыл бұрын
@@tetradgroup ok, charge pressure at idle is right on 300 psi and does not vary much with loader function, at full speed 2400-2500 rpm’s the charge pressure is around 430 and doesn’t vary much with loader functions. As soon as I take off i get resistance in the sticks and it plungers to 200 but recovers and stays in the low 400s as long as I am tracking straight any twists or turns it starts plummeting and will even go as low as 50 pounds but recovers as soon as I let off the sticks.

Hello I have a bobcat 753, on the right side I have full power in reverse and almost no power going forward just slight movement and surging but no actual power. I reversed the hydraulic hoses on the drive motor so the controls were reversed so pulling backward on lever made it go forward and the problem was still identical even with hoses reversed the forward movement was still weak and still had full power in reverse. This seems like it wouldn’t be a hydrostatic pump issue then. Any suggestions what you think the problem may be?
@tetradgroup2 жыл бұрын
That is consistent with a bad seal inside the drive motor, should be very similar to this video right here. When that seal goes out usually have power in One direction and not the other

Ok thanks … one more thing I lifted skid steer off the ground so all tires were in the air and that problem side appeared to respond perfectly the wheels would spin forward and back as they should no noises or anything so the problem is only when it’s trying to move the weight of the machine … still seem like it could be a bad seal in drive motor?
@tetradgroup2 жыл бұрын
@@tedpeacock3945 yep, oil takes path of least resistance, machines off the ground if lower resistance will turn the wheels instead of bypassing the seal then still a motor issue
