Tevin Campbell was often called the male Whitney Houston...this performance proves it
@wadner81192 жыл бұрын
So true Whitney & him wld have broken Billboard records & glass if they had a joint together. I been saying he is the male equivalent to Whitney for years. They both inspired me to sing. Thanks to them I can sing & do harmonies perfectly. I see why people say I look like him when he was a teen.

Not pinching him🤣 I'm dead! 😭 U stoopid! 😂😂😂 I love Tevin. He makes me sad when I see him though. He should have had a loooong lengendary career. Maybe it's the empath in me but I love his voice but I feel sad at the same time for some reason 🤷🏾♀️

Most of the 80s and 90s singers had their origins in the Church.. today’s Singers have their origins because they look marketable… THOSE VOICES WERE DIFFERENT!!

@3:07 the reason why he's smiling so big at this moment is because when Granny went up to the stage, that was the official Apollo Seal of Approval. She was at EVERY show. Front row and center...but only went up when the artist was killing it. @5:11 The Moment everyone is waiting for. 😂🤣 @6:25 Eh, your like didn't stick and count.

HISTORY ABOUT TEVIN Tevin Jermod Campbell (born November 12, 1976) is an American singer and songwriter. He performed gospel in his local church from an early age. Following an audition for jazz musician Bobbi Humphrey in 1988, Campbell was signed to Warner Bros. Records. In 1989, Campbell collaborated with Quincy Jones performing lead vocals for "Tomorrow" on Jones' album Back on the Block and released his Platinum-selling debut album, T.E.V.I.N. The album included his highest-charting single to date, "Tell Me What You Want Me to Do", peaking at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. The debut album also included the singles "Alone With You" (produced by Al B. Sure and Kyle West, with background vocals by K-Ci and JoJo from Jodeci), and "Goodbye". His double-Platinum-selling second album, I'm Ready, released in 1993, included two high-charting songs penned by Babyface; "Can We Talk" peaked at number 9 on the Hot 100 and number 1 on the Billboard R&B charts, and the album's title track "I'm Ready", which also peaked at number 9 on the Hot 100. In 1996, Campbell released his third album, Back to the World, which was not as commercially or critically successful as his first two releases. His fourth and most recent album, Tevin Campbell, was released in 1999, but performed poorly on Billboard's album charts. As an actor, Campbell appeared in Prince's film Graffiti Bridge and made guest appearances on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Moesha television programs. He voiced fictional pop star Powerline in Disney's 1995 animated film A Goofy Movie, in which he provided vocals for the film's songs "Stand Out" and "I2I". He appeared as Seaweed in the Broadway musical Hairspray in 2005.

That's my boy "One Take Tevin"! You know he didn't spend much time in the both, when recording, lol. Him and Jason Weaver are one take in the studio. Not too many can sing this way, especially at the Legendary APOLLO STAGE! if you like them high notes you have to listen to Lisa Fischer "How can I Ease The Pain" Live, she don't have a high note, I think it's a dog whistle. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaXUfoCNa8eLlbc

Phillip Bailey is a force to be reckoned with TRUST!!He had it sewed up.If u thought Tevin Campbell was a problem wait till u hear my boi Phillip Bailey on this one.Dude got sum powerful lungs lol the best Falsetto I've heard thus far idc idc idc what anybody says lol Trust me when I tell u u won't be disappointed!!!Anybody that seen this performance know what I'm talm bout 🔥🔥🔥💯

That's the thing about the Apollo as an artist you can't go up in the Apollo and not bring any talent because this is where a lot of our brothers and sisters who are stars now have come from and they always come back and perform because they always remember where they come from and it was a great thing to watch every week because you know for some of us who couldn't afford to go see concerts and stuff like that this was the next best thing

I really like your reactions to Tevin he was my favorite too at the time the albums were new check out Tomorrow a better me, better you with Quincy Jones and from the Disney animated movie "A Goofy Movie" he voiced two great songs "Stand Out" and as the Powerline character "eye to eye or i 2 i" and you can find at a Disney presentation they have him actually perform this live on stage in his street clothes about 25 years later and he still have the voice tho he's older with glasses and some facial hair but still good to see him. Now for the dark side i had heard that at the height of his young career as a minor that he was something of a sex addict and he got himself into a lot of problems including with the law and driving around to young to get a license to get "dates" and I dont think it was always with females which is ok now but back then well, that ended his career what was kept all hush hush but i guess he made enough money to last him in recent years hes seen singing but not at the level he used to.
@justjohnny05 Жыл бұрын
I wanted to add i just looked it up and in 2019 he publicly revealed that he was and had always been gay and that in the late 90's when he was at the height of his career he was arrested for soliciting a male undercover cop. But I still love his songs, his voice and him.
