That's an inspiring message from her, especially nowadays (2020s) where a lot more of us are overweight including myself

Yes I think sometimes it takes people like the Gladiators and the contenders to help jump start people's motivation to be fit and active. I remember watching this show when it aired and I was 10 years old and with the Gladiators being celebrities and role models of the time and it really encouraged us to be active and fit. It's a shame they don't have a show like this nowadays as it's very easy for people to be more sedentary!.

Agreed. I can only think the reasons they were used are because the producers didn't want to leave them out or maybe the celebs didn't do as much training as regular contenders. Regardless the men ran the lady gladiators ragged. You can't deny biology.
