not speaking of something is how its forgotten... concerning the us ,the theocratic winds might be to strong to like the familiar smell that touching on the religious dogma the n guys used to make a lot of this possible....for its mainstream media to 'want' to make a movie tale about it.. to forget history is to doom your children to repeat it as that russian said with foresight...

it makes his sacrifice cheap to make him Jewish. The dude did his duty for his country and what he thought was right. A lot of Christians supported the Nazis, but a lot of Christians also fought them. Many people were arrested for hiding Jews. This is the ugliest point in modern history. it is not a fictional account made up by some writer. Changing the facts does a disservice to the generations in the future who can learn from history.

Everyone who talks about the courage of Captain Witold Pilecki forget about one thing. Just getting him into the camp is a real miracle. After all, he could die at almost any time. The Germans could have killed him already while he was arrested in the street. What happened often. He could have been arrested by the Gestapo in Szucha or Pawiak (places where people were tortured from where they practically did not come out alive). He could have ended up in jail and mass executions of people in retaliation for the actions of the resistance movement. He could have been sent to any other concentration camp or forced labor. On the way, the Germans could have killed him for any reason. The road to the camp was not as easy as it seems.

Totally agree Sabaton are masters at fiting the tone to the subjectmatter. Its one of there greatest strenghts.

I agree, they do really well with it. I can go into a song not having any idea what it’s about and the tone and sound immediately gets me into it.

History show repeatedly that it part of human nature to adapt no matter the circumstances. Even today you can look at situations in Africa, Middle East and now Ukraine. Human trafficking, slavery and wars are happening in 2022 and those are topics are highly ignored and replace with celebrity, fashion, and fantasy. People don’t like being depressed and will grab on to what ever make them happy and ignore the rest of the world around them.

When i first heard the song, i really liked that dark and heavy feel you get from it, but i didint really understand much from the lyrics, so i went and watched sabaton history on witold. I simply couldnt belive that his story was true, it seemed too unbelivable to me, but yet its as true as it gets. After that when i listened to the song again, it became one of my favorite sabaton songs of all time.

I love your point that the advance in technology does not equal an advance in humanity, whatever that would mean. We are essentially still the same in our instincts, spanning centuries. A great example: an ancient Roman was just as thirsty of blood and violence in the Colosseum as we are watching an MMA fight.

There were definitely at least lines that didn't know. Like there are stories about American and English soldiers liberating death camps after D-Day who didn't know what they were going to see and were horrified by the reality.

Ofcourse the people living near a camp knew. The smoke from the crematorium would give it away, the smell of burning flesh is kind of unique
@cherylk.2474 Жыл бұрын
Yes, this was the source of the rumors, but the Allies didn't believe. This is why Pilecki volunteered to go into Auschwitz. His mission was to confirm the activity and organize resistance. Then, after the war, the communists killed him, because the communists were as bad as the nazis. It was dangerous for Poles to recognize their own heros during all the years Poland was occupied by the Soviets after the war, about 50 years of occupation. Now, you need to learn about FAther Jerzy, he is another hero of Poland.
@lucasrokitowski8707 Жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. They could have known something bad was happening but since they were considered "sub-human" themselves and were not allowed to go there regardless, they, most likely, simply didn't know for sure. It wasn't the same case as in Dahau, Germany, where the citizens covered the atrocities on purpose. If you smell a stench you don't immediately jump to a burning human flesh even today (have you personally smelled the stench of a person being burned alive? If not - there you have it), when you know this things happened, and back then they didn't even have this knowledge. Remember it was the Poles who notified the US first about the Holocaust. It is not that simple.

@lucasrokitowski8707 Жыл бұрын
