You need multiple heavy-gauge jumpers block to chassis. The one on the blower needs to move to the block. The blower is gasketed to the block so it makes a lousy place to connect a ground connection. The only paths connecting it are thru the bolt contact points and the blower drive shaft thru its bearings. A good ground jumper starter to block or batteries doesn't hurt either. It is sometimes painful to listen to your attempt to figure it out. A heavy ground jumper for the Generator or alternator to the block helps immensely also. The lower the voltage drops the better everything works.

I would add ground straps between all of the above

Amen to that. 90% of electrical probs are BAD/NON-EXISTENT grounds.

Nothing is so satisfying as hearing an engine fire up and run, save for a successful test drive! Well done fellas!

Hey Sage, I had a shop show me how to take a 1 gal pump sprayer from Lowes and convert it to my diesel fuel primer. Everytime I changed out my fuel filter i would connect the 1 gal sprayer filled with diesel fuel to the top of my fuel filter.....pump up the sprayer open a value on the custom hose and the engine fire right up.....works great....i carry it with my at all times.....Steve

When cranking the engine, don't let up the instant it fires. Keep the starter engaged until the engine is running. When the engine dies you loose the movement of fuel toward the injectors. Also give a shot of ether instead of the long cranking. The sudden speed-up of the engine shoots the fuel into the injectors faster.

Why do you guestion every thing your mechanic does? He's the one that's know more than you do. Think if I was the mechanic, I'd just say if you know more than I do, then work on yourself! 👎

Took me a few days to get through this episode and I enjoyed it a lot, I saw the back and forth between you 2 for what it was, Check, Double check and check again so you are both on the same page and can catch any mistakes or missed items so you dont have to revisit anything. The fuel system priming was something Scott covered with his weed sprayer bottle but I always felt it was a shortcut and your method although painful identified the issue and repaired it the right way for the situation. Also great to see the remote start box appear, Priorities! Battery Grounds too are a bit of a black art and something Ive always been hot on due to my weird love of English cars where bad ground connections have been elevated to an art form and for me its "If in Doubt, Run one out'' and just run another ground from the battery but im a bit anal that way and get a perverse delight from Ground blocks plastered all over the place :-) Either way great to hear her fire and run a few times, also amusing to see the comments section fire up again chapter and verse from the KZbin Bible of Bus repair. Love your work and waiting for more from Jason's channel!

is it just me, or does that engine have very little compression when its cranking?? Almost all diesels are a pain to bleed the air out the fuel system. Another issue is that very old fuel lines and their fittings are very prone to sucking air and creating all kinds of problems.
