Love those Detroits. I grew up working on them. I have a 4-53 in a older motor grader and a 6V out of a landfill trash compactor that I'm going to install in a truck I'm going to restore.

I have to say you made my Day Sage! Thanks for filling in the gaps mate and the old girl looks to be moving well despite the loose plate negating the blower charge. The driveby sequences are awesome to hear and that last piece was a great touch with Banjo's and speed lol, considering how down on power she mustve been she still did fine and the smoke wasnt that bad. Obviously way better now. I cant help but wonder how Jason is doing but your episode fills the gap nicely. Thank you

Locally marine fuel dealers carry SAE 40 DD rated oil in several brands in 5 gallon buckets and 55 gallon drums for the commercial fishing boats.

👍, it does not matter to me if it’s an old bus, old car ,old truck. I love watching someone with the passion to tackle and save the mechanical history that has made America today. I have tackled several in my time and truly wish more younger people would have the passion. Thanks for the post you never know when a younger someone will watch and spark that passion. My grandfather was a WWll Air Force engine mechanic, my father didn’t mechanic at all and I mechanic whenever I can. Thanks again and good luck.

With stores like O'Reilly's : Ask if they have more Delo 40 in the back. All stores have a oil stock area to replenish shelf's from.

Straight 40 Delo 400 doesn’t meet DD specs. It’s preferable to multi-grade but Delo 100 40wt is the correct spec oil. Delo 100 isn’t going to be found in any local parts house and most can’t even order it.

You need Delo 100 which is rarely stocked but can be ordered. Hard to find while travelling!

Great video, nice to see the 6-71 running down the road. I run a 4-53T Silver series and have to special order Shell T1 40W. I'm in the process of building up a 353T and am going to run Shell Rotella T4 15W40 and monitor engine vitals. The new CK4 oils are low ash now, so going to run this and compare to straight 40W.:)

At 14:40 the Shell Rotella® T1 40 Straight Grade is suitable for use in Detroit Diesel two-cycle engines (Series 53, 71 and 92). Even the Traveller Oil 40 wt is supposed to have ash content of .83 mass percent, that would meet the low ash requirement also. However the Traveller Heavy Duty SAE 40 is SL rated and not recommended for diesel.

Amazon lists that they carry Delo 400 40 weight oil for $38.60 per gallon. Hope this helps.
