The College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl kicks off at 1:00 PM EST (12:00 PM CST & 11:00 AM MST) on Wednesday, January 1st. The Texas Longhorns, led by head coach Steve Sarkisian and seeded 5th with a 12-2 (7-1) record, will be playing the Arizona State Sun Devils, led by head coach Kenny Dillingham and seeded 4th with an 11-2 (7-2) record. Texas is a former Big 12 member, but now resides in the SEC, while Arizona State is a former Pac-12 member that now resides in the Big 12.

​@@drew7155On Texas Football showed Ewers stats vs the other eleven QBs in the CFP. Ewers ranked #12 or #11 in most but no higher than #8 in any. Except when he throws those horizontal passes to spread the defense and inflate his passing percentage. On intermediate and deep routes Ewers is inconsistent since his oblique injury put him down.

Wisner, Majors and Williams are all fine and practiced the past couple days. They will be ready to play. The question mark injury wise for Texas is Isiah Bond. They may be without him another game. The important thing for Bond is to come back healthy. When he’s healthy he takes the Texas offense to another level because he has elite 4.28 40 speed.

Arizona State looks undersized on both sides of the line compared to Texas. I think Texas can beat them in the trenches. If they do, I like Texas to beat them in a similar fashion to how they beat Clemson.

As an ASU fan I remember playing those two big and talented DT from UCF and they gave us problems. Texas has like nine of those dudes. Texas will win this game, but I would not be totally shocked if ASU pulled off the upset.

Who has played tougher competition? No doubt Sun Devils will fight but can they stay within 2 touchdowns? Leavitt could be the difference. I don't know. Also, no doubt Texas is the better team but can they wear down Az. St. in the latter moments of the game? Texas' big play opportunities will be there. Az St should be plodding along like the old Nebraska teams. It does seem like Nebraska vs Florida St. or Nebraska vs Miami of the old days. I think Texas does win and cover In the 4th quarter, like he said. Good luck to all.

Also, Texas depth will not be the same factor that you would see during the regular season since Arizona States' playerers are well rested. If Arizona State can keep this game close for the first half, they could win by wearing down the Texas defense. Their running game is no joke.

But, I'm going to tell you what I told Clemson fans who besmirched Mr. Ewers last week, y'all ain't Georgia. All that said, I revel in the fact we played a whole SEC schedule and we still get told we haven't played anybody just like in the Big 12. I make fun of SEC schools when they copy ISU flyover D to stop Texas. Texas hate is so strong, winning with an elite D and low scoring offense is no longer "big boy football" in the SEC when we do it. So, this isn't an SEC thing at all. Simply, the last few defenses where Leavitt played well are not Texas, ASU's defense is not Clemson, Georgia or even A&M.

The Big12 is more of a finesse league where you see smaller but fast guys which leads to some high power offenses. The SEC is different where size and speed are critically important. More smash mouth like the Big10 teams play on offense and super fast and hard hitting on defense.

You talk like Texas has a sus defense. That’s the best defense in the country. Nearly every player on that d line is going to the NFL, and the secondary is easily top 5. I like ASU, but they are outmatched in almost every position, even RB. Texas has 4 backs that would be #1 backs in most programs. Their depth is the issue. When you can rotate every position every series and not experience a drop in effectiveness, you have crazy depth. Skattebo is my favorite back to watch but he is about to get his first preview of what NFL defenses are like.
