txba.ly/v9tg - The Hendrix version of Little Wing has a few cool elements that Stevie Ray Vaughan didn't use. In this video I'll cover two of these elements that are based on the same concept of playing consecutive two note chords while holding one of the notes constant.

if you listen closely to the music of hendrix, there is so much to hear. Even after years of listening to Hendrix, everytime I hear a song, there is one little thing I didn't realized before! same with SRV

Man you look so young here. I am working on SRV's Little Wing from the Hal Leonard book and listening to the track, but I found all your Little Wing related videos, and using them to make it the best I can.

Your analysis is good. All due respect to SRV, he misses the key elements of Hendrix' version, it's like he didn't sit down and really study Hendrix close enough. Don't get me wrong SRV does tremendous emotional lead work, but the Hendrix "Curtis Mayfield" style is very indebth and difficult to play. The use of double notes and lingering of one note while the other notes symcopate are noticeable on Hendrix version. Great analysis....Now on to Axis Bold As Love please....

Thanks for the Little Wing breakdown -- I like your attention to detail. Hendrix's version of Little Wing from February 24, 1969 Royal Albert Hall [Hendrix in the West - original vinyl LP early 70s] is the absolute jawdropping version, that shows how incredibly fluent he played this song. Yes, SRV was a decent lead guitarist, but his rhythm playing was nowhere close to Hendrix's level. Thanks for making mention of SRV's omissions.

@hawg427 I have. It's a decent amp and the cleans are alright, but I could never get used to the overdrive channel, way too midrangey.

Hey Anthony - just a thought, for the second lick I've always used this. Bar strings 3 and 4 at the 7th fret and hammer on 9th fret on the 4th string then immediately slide down two frets still barring the 3rd and 4th strings while playing the 8th and 7th frets on the 5th string, Then hammer the 7th fret on the 4th string and finally sliding with thumb from the 5th to the 7th on the 6th string. Try it....hope it makes sense :)

@mcnabb4mvp06 No, I had to mix the audio from the Eleven Rack with the plucky sounds picked up by my webcam. Factor in a bit of audio drift and it's a mess.

The truth is that 999,999 out of a million artists can't copy Hendrix note for note anyway, so SRV not matching Hendrix in playing Little Wing is common. Even those who come extremely close like Andy Aledort, don't have the tone. Great chordal and note breakdown that Anthony gave on his video, though.

Anthony, have you ever played thru a Peavey Delta Blues 115 amp? If so how did it compare to the Blues Jr. NOS?

Stevie's version is much different from Jimi's. Stevie's is cool, but the original is much better. Check out Justin Sandercoe's great LW-Lesson - he nailed it 99%!

My only objection is that there is no Hendrix version of the song, that is the original - don't get me wrong we all love srv ... so semantics.

Hendrix cheated on the second lick. If you listen closely on the record someone just strums the bar and hendrix plays the single notes. After the first lik i think he either changes the channel or the whole recording setting. Hendrix never does the second lick like that live even though he can... Smart man he was

@@scottforti3194 not that it’s any of your business, but whenever you see someone gain a lot of weight over a period of years, it’s almost always related to anti-depressants which destroy their metabolism.
