Brings back some memories, we had a shoe shine man at the Palace Barber Shop in McKinney, Tx named Bruce. I grew up getting my haircut there and Bruce use to shine my Dad's boots all the time. He shined mine a few times, but when I was little it was hard for me to keep my foot planted still with Bruce making that shine rag pop. RIP Mr. Bruce.

Been shining shoes for 25 years, started when I was homeless because nobody would hire me. Spent 16 years in a Barber shop till it closed 4 years ago."Shines by Vern"in downtown Oakland California, maybe you'll run into me. I'm the only white shoe shiner in town.😀

Barber shop update: we have closed temporarily due to Covid. Mr. Robert, our shoe shine man, has also tested positive for the virus, along with his wife. Bob Wheeler will need to quarantine because his wife is Covid positive. To keep the other barbers and customers safe we will pause our operations for at least two weeks. The shop will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before reopening. We will keep you updated.

I will tip you $1000 if you stop mentioning tipping; if you want to go and pay him, just go and be humble. I doubt he needs excessive tipping, at his age he no longer cares about he amount but about your persona.

I wish you had mentioned his last name, respectfully. I’m youngest of 10 children. My youngest brother when he was probably 16, built his own shoe shine box, & started his own business. He would’ve been 16 in about 1958. I thought he brought home (with tips) about $50.00 $60.00 a week. Not sure but I think he worked bars. Not sure how he got into bars either during those days. He may have set up outside the doors. I’m just remembering it my way. Out of Houston, Texas. It just now made me think of Jesus, the washing of feet. How humbling it must have been. Don’t remember how long it lasted but eventually he became a Carpenter like our Jesus, with our Daddy Funny how the older we get the better we understand & put things together. This is going into my Journaling Stories

When planting a vine you'll expect to be able to eat it's fruits. The vine is called the soul of the Earth. You are the vine with grapes that gives life to your soul. You should try to discover it remembering that God promised the fruits to all those who can plant the vine.
