Today we are discussing some wading gear. Not everything, but at least most of the gear I use when wade fishing. In the future I plan to cover a few more wade fishing topics like "how to find good locations" . Im sure Ive missed some things but this is a good start.

Great video. I'll just suggest two things your P.F.D (personal flotation device is a must-have a good idea is find one with pockets and a good insulated water jug for the summertime especially if you're Wade fishing new areas

I don’t use that wading belt but I do prefer a non water proof tackle box for wading for the fact that when your box is underwater and it’s air tight it wants to float up. (I use a sling wading bag.) but i drilled some drain holes on the bottom of my tackle box so the water drains quick when I pull it out to use it and when I get home I rinse it out very good with the water hose and let it dry. Haven’t had a problem with rust so far

Jacob Mills yeah, I understand that. It can be annoying when it floats. I generally put it behind me on a sling and it doesn’t bother me. I’d prefer my lures staying dry.

Well said!! My wading set up is almost the same. Frogg Togg stuff IMO is junk. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. For those who are not experienced handling fish a dip net with retractable leash may be handy. I don't use one just something else for fish to get tangled up in but when I first started I used one and it did help. I also drag a do-net instead of a stringer. Keeps fish alive longer and most importantly helps keep porpus and sharks from getting my trout. Pain to drag tho.

I noticed in Some of your videos you carry a fish stringer and also a fish bag at the same time when you were wade fishing. Can you explain why you have both at the same time?

Sure. When I bring the stringer and wade bag, I’m only using the stringer to keep the wade bag away from me. Rope would do the same thing but because I have a stringer clip on my wade belt it’s easier to attach/detach that way.

Top Notch as always Mike. 👍 Ture story: About 25 years ago I was wading the Balinese in G-Town. I had 5 nice Specks on a rope stringer and I was in chest deep water and me standing 6'8", I was out there. The wind & waves start to pick up so I don't think nothing of it at first till the "TUG" on my stringer gets stupid and is heading to the offshore end of the Balinese. A 4 foot Shark had allocated my catch 😳 and he found a little resistance and went stupid trying to keep his meal. Needless to say I was blessed to NOT have a Cable stringer on my side! 🙏 Ok so here's the poke at myself. I kinda freaked and before I could get the stringer, which was "looped" around my belt undone... the shark bit through it and WE PARTED WAYS. 🏃 Now I use coated rope and don't loop nothing around my belt. 😁 LOL. Tight Lines and Full Limits to Ya.! Look forward to more of your videos.

Big K yeah, I use the cable stringer with the belt. The small pocket that holds the spike end can easily be pulled out and released if something like that happens. I would never tie it to myself though.

Thought I'd check in to ensure my wading gear was up to date prior to hitting Boliver on 4/6. As usual, you're spot on target especially in regards to the stringer and tackle box. I use a home made cable stringer and a Plano waterproof tackle box. I attached a thin cable loop to the the Plano box and bought a strap to attach allowing me to carry it over the shoulder and out of the way. I look for anyway in which I can save a few dollars without sacrificing quality and functionality. Send me info on the Texas Fishing Force shirt in blue. It would be an nice addition to my gear for my trip next month. Thanks Mike.

Man I like the boots that you were talking about. Do you know if they make these boots for wide feet. I have big very very wide feet sz14 4 EEEE with fat wide toe. The only thing that I can wear is flip flops which I have to fight for almost 5 minutes to get them on. I can barely get on my feet because my feet are wider than the straps. It would be awesome to get a pair because I haven't worn boots or shoes in 30 years. Great View and I like your tattoos you have. You take it easy man and be safe out there.
