I absolutely would have picked up the aztec crushed malachite, but I'm a crafter/flipper and would have found a nice piece of wood to stain, and mounted them properly. It kinda looked like they were missing a plaque, if that was some sort of glue on the back. My thrifting focus is a little different. I go for baskets, wood pieces and wooden decor, craft supplies and yarn, paint, frames (including art that can be removed to reuse the frames), vintage books, and I always go through the sweaters looking for ones with cashmere, angora, and 100% wool, because they can be frogged, the yarn hand-washed, and new items made. Plain tshirts for crafting, and ones with interesting screenprints that can be turned into pillows or other decor. Pillows where the stuffing is still good, even if the cushion isn't. Most stuffing can also be washed and reused in new items. Clothing items with interesting materials that would be super expensive to go buy at a fabric store, Leather and Suede Jackets and coats are a favorite. I make pieced together pillow covers with leather and suede scraps that sell for between $50 and $80, but if I thrift the materials they only cost me a few dollars and a couple hours to make several of them. Thrift Stores are literal goldmines for crafters.

Margaret, lately all the Jim Shore pieces I find are chipped. I found a beautiful Santa figure, but noticed something was missing off his hat. A while back I was at a Goodwill. They have this tall large table with lamps and miscellaneous objects with more underneath. I saw a larger box there, so I went to see what it was. I ALWAYS look in boxes, because so many people don't bother! It was a NEW in box Jim Shore Halloween figure!!! Original box, original packaging. Was so excited. Paid $8 and sold it to someone in California for $145. Yes, shipping costs put some people off, but it found a home. Thanks for your videos. I like your haul videos the best. I like to see what you found and how much you can (or did) sell it for. Am worried about gas prices affecting shipping prices and people's ability to purchase things for fun. But I just sold an Elvis/Rockabilly mask so someone is still planning on having some fun!!

The grateful dead glass right beside the green glass you kept debating on would have been a good pick up. They sell really well. Plates that have a mark of England, Germany , and Italy you should look up in the store and see what they sell for. They are a good buy sometimes.

I would have gone with the dog art, it wasn't that big and would have been a small pain to ship, but doggo art sells. I wrap it in bubble wrap. tape slit pool noodles around the frame, Then make cross bars of pool noodles sliced in half lengthwise, then more bubble wrap, then depending on the size, I open up some cardboard boxes and make a box around the art by scoring, folding, and taping the cardboard & Frankenboxing, if necessary. The Auction Professor has goo how-to videos on this. I have a few pieves of art that are listed for $200 or more, those, I would take to the UPS store and have them do it & charge the buyer for the cost. I don't like packing & shipping art, but I like selling it! That stylized kitty at 6:42 looked interesting. The kissing figurines make me cringe. The only Jellycat I have ever found was Alien Bob. He sold for $75, so I was lucky. Box of vintage Holly Christmas ornaments at 10:56. Depending what's in them, those sell well. It doesen't have to be the original ornaments as long as they are vintage. The old boxes of ornaments I got last fall all sold and for more than I expected. at 12:02, I might have gotten the green thing without the chip. The long basket on the lower left looked well made to me, I might have bought it and have sold a basket with similar proportions for almost $30. The Cat in the Hat Jack in the box near the end - those have good comps, most sold for around $30.

Me again🥴 are buyers willing to pay what the art is worth then a high shipping cost? Or u just don’t get quite the price u want because the shipping is high?
@morphamorpha6194
@morphamorpha6194 Жыл бұрын
@@susanslagle-cochran8427 If someone is buying a higher priced item that they really want, the shipping price may not matter. If someone who has the $ and isn’t feeling the pinch of the economy wants something enough, they will pay what it takes, within reason. Also, someone who buys that sort of thing online more than once, is used to the shipping price.

Miniatures. Since they are so tiny, thrift stores just pack them into baggies a lot of the time. On that note, even things that weren't intended to be "dollhouse miniatures" but could function as such, may sell better if you add some of those related keywords. Unrelated....I'm always looking for vintage toys from the 80s-90s. I think I'll start collecting in the future. I just found an original pound puppy, but comps aren't huge. And I don't think that I can let it go for under $100 bucks. Lol. I have to tell myself that if I really want my own pound puppy, I can just buy the exact one I want off ebay someday. :p

Oh, wow! I know you probably didn’t see them, but @ 9:09 in the video there were two cast metal stars. May have been vintage or repro, not sure. Those have been great flips for me. Go w farmhouse country, primitive decor look. Just wanted to mention. Not exactly sure of their purpose, but the antique & vintage ones were used in barns. I have some I rescued from Barn tear downs I helped my brother with.

I’ve only watched 3 of these “pickin”pods. You’ve a good eye! I don’t like chotzskes nor kitchz. Edit: sorry re spelling. One you passed over (tan & black w/petroglyphs on stem below bowl shaped top) looked like Mana pottery. Very expensive to collect! Good tip to check small bags. Maybe coasters don’t sell bc they’re from a time when we had friends. “Company.”

The shipping IS a major thought for me. If it's too delicate, will it break? If it's too heavy, will the shipping cost scare away potential buyers? If it's too big or awkward, how do I get it to them WITHOUT damaging it AND will it cost too much to ship? By the way, do you pay for the shipping or do you let the customer pay for it? If you pay for it, do you try to offset that in the price some how?

Hi, I'm a new watcher and am watching some of your older videos. I learn so much from you. Love it. I love to buy and sell vintage, because it is what I like the most. However, I've been trying to branch out and have been looking at shoes and researching. You were asking about children's toys, I recently bought and sold a "KATHE KRUSE NWT WALDORF GUGGULI PINK DOLL DISCONTINUED" (sorry, I just copied and pasted from eBay) for $28. Considering toys can be cheap at GW, I think it was pretty good.

I think you may have made a mistake on the green Mayan/Aztec figures. It looks like they were $10 for the two of them and that seems like it would have been a great price for these sculptures if they hadn't been damaged. But even damaged, I think they may have had value IF they were made of malachite. I looked it up and it seems that malachite goes for major dollars just on its own. I believe a sculptor who works with that stone would snap them up. They seem pretty thick so I think a sculptor could break them down into smaller sculptures. PEACE

I don’t like to pick up anything over 12”!! Also, just a thought:) I, shy away from big art too. However, one thing I like to keep in mind w regard to art is this…Larger art certainly will and can be costly to ship, but the return on investment is usually bigger as well & With higher priced listings, like art, I tend to assume that the cost to ship will not be as big of a factor because the audience is different & buyer different. So, if I find a great piece, I’m more likely to invest more time in looking & buying if I think the return will be high. Does that make sense? (I know we all try to be cognizant & conscientious as far as shipping goes. It’s difficult when so much of it is beyond our control:()
