Mother, Delana Pritchard, and and stepfather, Chris Pritchard of Bristow, Oklahoma share their story of losing their 24-year-old son, Gavin Long, to illicit fentanyl in this documentary about the dangers of illegal drugs. To use this presentation at high schools or other educational applications, contact Texas Pictures through our website at www.texas-pictures.com.
Naloxone, the active ingredient in 4mg Narcan and higher dose 8mg Kloxxado, along with many generic versions, can reverse an opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Some areas have Naloxone available for free. Google it.

She said she didn’t know it was fentanyl, and didn’t know anything about fentanyl, even though he had already had an overdose, and they should’ve said what the overdose was after he overdosed the first time, and they had Narcan available that’s the first thing they went for. What else does Narcan work with because I associate Narcan with fentanyl overdoses! Yes, people overdose on heroin and other things, but usually because it is laced with fentanyl! I was a very confused about her story! Very, very confused trying to follow her story and his stepdad story! Also the fact that when he was talking about when you’re having your bad days, he never once said pick up the phone and call meand I will talk you down or I will pick you up. As an ex addict, I always need somebody that I could call and that would get me before I would actually use! And I thank them to this day because I’d still be popping those pills!

Maybe you need to go back and LISTEN TO HER!! He was at his grandparents house grandmother was prescribed pain pills when pain pills are prescribed now they are required to have narcan. I know this because my mom has to go to a pain clinic and narcan is required. I'm sorry for what you had to overcome, but you can't critique everyone else about how things were handled. Do you think that when they read the comments and they read yours,that your comment will help or cause them more pain

Wouldn't it be nice if people donated to addiction research and resources & education the way people support people with cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc.? People with addiction problems are judged like it hasn't been proven to be a biochemical, neurological disorder, usually along with a history of trauma, often with other untreated mental illnesses, and lack of knowledge and resources. In fact all those are clearly recognised as causative

Mom Im sorry for your loss! But once again another mom who thinks their teenage kid smoking weed is ok or just a phase!! Let’s stop normalizing our children smoking weed!! It is not ok!!!! That’s how most kids start specially the ones who are suffering from some type of mental disorder, then they go on to try something else!!!
@stacyjaye6350

@@mariela06012 I hate to say this, but I agree with you. Started smoking weed when I was 13 years old. Smoked it for 50 years. Sober only five years and I am 68 years old. I managed to keep a lid on it, and never got in trouble or anything, but what a life of wasted potential! I don't go down this road very often, because feeling sorry for yourself does no good. But I'm sorry that I was left at 13 years old unsupervised, in the early seventies. Parental supervision and love and acceptance is the most important thing, I think. And screw their privacy! I would be secretly tossing their room and possessions on the regular! If anyone has a child, they have to make it their business to learn everything about drugs, all drugs! Anyway, I agree with you.
@keluvnme
@keluvnme 5 сағат бұрын
I don’t really think that’s the case, and I think it very unfair of you to say such a thing. Parents don’t want their kids to smoke weed or involve themselves in any other paraphernalia….usually we just accept what already is because we don’t want it to get worse. Or we don’t want to push them away. It’s not as simple or cut and dry as you made it seem….
@mariela06012

@@keluvnme in what part of my comment did I say that parents want their kids to smoke weed? I said another parent who thinks their kids smoking weed is not as big of an issue because it’s only weed o just a phase that their kids are going through and to me that’s unacceptable! It’s normalizing the situation!!!! So you have to accept that your kids are involved in things they shouldn’t be doing because you afraid that it will get worse or you pushing them away?? Really??? So you think that by accepting this it will get better ? Or that they will just stick to weed and they are not going to want to experience a different type of drug?? You know what you should do? You should figure out if there is an specific reason why they are smoking weed!!! Are they trying to self medicate because theres some type of underlying mental disorder ? Is it because the kids they hang around with ? Is it because they are going through something and they don’t know how to deal with it? You can’t just sit there and wait to see what will be the outcome because it might be too late!!!!

Yall doing the most. Have yall had kids that smoked weed?? Because I have! And getting them help was next to IMPOSSIBLE!! Police don’t want to arrest minors for that. They claim they have to do worse stuff. Secondly, I forced them to rehab. No help either. They constantly failed drug tests and there were no repurcussions. I asked about inpatient treatment. Couldn’t get it until outpatient was failed first which would be 16 failed drug tests. Also, those camps or drug rehabs costs tens of thousands of dollars so what other help is there please?

How in the hell do people get an animal sedative to put in drugs?? Along with those 2 he had methamphetamines and amphetamines. Lots of extenuating circumstances around his case and oddities!!!! This mother isn't giving us the whole picture. She's too worried about what people might think of her son - she's trying to control the narrative & not completely honest about her feelings along the way, either. It doesn't matter who Gavin truly was - it doesn't affect his worth.

I agree. The early onset of mental disorders like OCD is often a bad omen of severe problems in the future. These children are not "mother`s little helper", but rather in need of fast professional help. Otherwise, however, they will then seek their own self - medication.

I wouldn't want my tax money going towards addicts. It's unfortunate what they have to go through but most of this is a choice. If you're choosing to do drugs, what exactly are you expecting, and how are the consequences of your actions now mine and everyone else's responsibility. They really need to educate these kids as much and as soon as possible and let them know exactly what they're signing up for if they do Dian this road.
