I get what they r saying. I like to call my family instead of texting them. Its nice to hear them when i am away & miss them. Theres times when i get lonely that i would rather call my family & talk for a little bit instead of texting. Being able to hear them is better cause its not all quiet. But texting can work good to at times like when ur sick & lose ur voice or something. Or if ur depressed & u dont feel like actually talking u can text. I agree that it is fine to text to a certain degree however I do look at what Jeannie said, these days someone calling you is seen as "Sweet" and is a symbol of making an effort. To be honest I think that is really sad. In the old days when you wanted to take a girl out you had to actually go ask her to her face or call her on the phone. Texting I find isnt as romantic, it's so easy to hide behind a text message then to actually make the bold gesture of taking a leap and going for it. I am sorry but I would have much more respect for the guy who called me or asked me in person than the guy who texted me in his Lunch Break. Plus I completely agree with Tamera, there is something so different with hearing someone laugh over the phone and knowing you gave them a smile then someone typing "LOL". Love you girls! I do a mix of both. If I'm on public transportation or in a crowded area I prefer to text. For making plans, I choose to text, so that everyone is accountable for the agreed time and place. For everything else I prefer to speak on the phone.
