They way you presented each mod is amazing! Such a simple but effective way to present them in order to show contrast, show vanilla then swap to the modded look. Love it! Probably going to swap to LTO Terran just because of the water. Thank you for giving exposure to these wonderful texture mods I didn't even know existed.

LTO actually made a standalone mod for the water textures aswell as one for the grass textures, but personally I use the mod "Water retextured" by Manulinkraft since it looks very similar to LTo Water but has better performance because the textures are less ultra high resolution. Alongside Water retextured I also use Better Ground Textures and it looks super pretty without compromising on the vanilla feel.

I never actually browsed for custom textures myself, despite having around 440 mods installed. So this video is much appreciated, I'll try some of these out - especially the clean one, all the little pawns are easily distinguishable zoomed out

The Outland Terrain mod has a mod setting that enables moving water.

Thanks for the overview ! I love greening up my saves, I used GreenWorld before but as you said that only really looks great in a few biomes. Now I'm sure I'll sit here loading my game tens of times just deciding which one I will use next and how they look combined with ReGrowth. Such amazing work by all these modders !

Me trying to remember which of these beautiful mods I actually use for my own game: Oh yeah I love using that one! Wait no.. That one. THAT one. Oh umm.. That one?? I am forgetful. Edit: I looked it up and apparently I'm using Clean Textures, I think because it also has compatibility/alternate textures for Regrowth Textures as well. Which is worth mentioning. Idk about the others.

Totally, I agree/ edit: apparently there is a standalone mod for just the water? I haven’t tried to find it yet in the workshop and I’m on my phone rn lol but someone mentioned it existing in another comment. If you look up the modder Bickley / LTO mods maybe you can find!

You should also check out 'Toony Terrain Textures', it really flies under the radar but it does what it says and I personally think it resolves a lot of the aesthetic clashing that the vanilla game has in terms of semi-realistic background terrain and pawn textures being flat 2D characters. I personally run a variation of Toony Terrain and a combination of other texture mods that I mish mashed together to get the ultimate aesthetic catered to my own taste but the base is Toony Terrain since its terrain flows well into any biome and is clear and easy to see for a player in terms of gameplay.

@@andrewhuestis9009 Yeah. Regarding terrain mods, I´m running LTO, Clean Textures, Regrowth, Celsius and even Mlies fork of Nature´s Pretty Sweet together and it´s working fine, at least I got no red errors. I wouldn´t install them all mid-game, though. LTO is at the bottom of my mod list.

Thank you!! And I’m not sure; I don’t think they should, except perhaps with the water effects, but I haven’t delved too deeply into that myself yet. Someone mentioned an alternative water effect mod in another comment thread on here and referenced it having a lower impact on performance, so, maybe? Time will tell lol

Greenworld has been a long time favourite, but I recently removed it because it made the terrain feel excessively cluttered in a way that broke my mind. Possibly not the best mod when partnered with some modded biomes like the Alpine Meadow.

I will say (IMO) I liked "better ground textures" the best but, yeah that water in LTO looks amazing but I felt the change from normal water to marsh water jarring. That needs a much better blending for me to consider using it. Cheers for the great content and presentation.

this is a good point! not sure if its possible from a modders perspective, but it would be nice if water had different colors based on not only what type (shallow, deep, marsh, etc) but ALSO what biome the map was in.

Aesthetics are for eye-havers. I go for accessibility mods! colorblind ores, greyscale gravel, darker rich soil and so on.

Big fan of the clean textures mod in general, but the deserts and ice biomes look really irritating. If they looked a bit less vivid it'd make these mods much more appealing.

Better Ground Textures and LTO Terrain Overhaul look the best in my opinion and the water in the second one really does look gorgeous as hell. Imagine combining these with the Flora reskin mod by cattleya and H.C_AnimalReskins_Complete, that would look beautiful!

Does all of them take in account the burned ground texture ? I think I tried one of them and after a large fire the ground was still bright green, I was a little bit disapointed. Nice video though.

Is there a way to install a 2nd instance of this game, with different settings, and different mods on your laptop so that you don't lose time switching back between different games if you want to try more than one theme? I don't like that when you go to change mod settings you lose a lot of time and have to install and uninstall the mods. That loses a lot of time. With hard drive space how it is, it would be easier to just have a 2nd installation with different mods and themes going.

Do you use steam for your mods? If so, I recommend the mod “Mod Manager” by fluffy - it allows you to save mod lists and load them with one click
