You actually can put a topcoat over it!! It will still show the texture but will provide protection to the glitter, smooth over the top, and will make the glitter pop more!

Suzie, great minds! ;) I bought 5 different colors of glitter from Michaels about a week ago and did the exact same steps and it worked beautifully! By the way, Michaels has beautiful glitter for those who want to create this look. I was going to use glitter on all of my nails but decided to just do my ring finger using silver glitter - - talk about BLING!! I got so many compliments. I posted a picture on Instagram about 5 days ago. I'm sooooo obsessed with glitter nails! I'm definitely doing a nail tutorial using glitter.

Oh and I tested one nail using top coat over the glitter. It did not look good at all! It wasn't as sparkly.

Hey Suzie, my 13 b-day is coming up in a couple weeks, I LOVE doing my nails and I have over 120 nail polishes right now, u have inspired me to try to do my own acrylic nails so my grandma says that she can get me a set and my mom is getting me a real nail table to do my nails. On the fingers she didn't put two coats on whenever it zooms in you can see the tips of her nails somewhat. Maybe it does need extra coverage at the tip or a second coat

QUESTION: Because you painted the underside of the nail should you also turn your hand over so the underside gets the light to set the polish too? Just curious. I think this would look cool as one accent nail and the rest just regular polish. :)
