Actually, juggling as a demoman is not about luck. If you aim a pipe directly at the opponent's feet, it will blast him upwards. Then you can proceed to "juggle" them by consequently hitting their feet in mid-air. This will keep them airborne and immobile (= juggling), which is a very strong game mechanic. Mostly, however, two pipes will finish the job.

Also one thing you could've mentioned: use enemy buildings to kill people with splash damage. Even when you can't see the engineer, it's often useful to shoot one of his buildings and get him with the splash damage.

I prefer to aim for centre of mass so I hit more constantly, but if you can aim at their feet then good job! And yes I totally agree, getting splash damage off buildings is a great technique (see 12:04)!

That's a good guide, it's also worth mentioning that the enemies start strafing when they see you, so often you can shoot a first pipe in stop them and wait for them to notice you and start strafing to go for the second shot.

Good points. Gonna sum it up and add my thoughts as well (in / / enclousures). 0. Get your interp settings in check 1. Pipes are effective on middle to close range. 2. Best way to practice is either by equipping a sticky jumper / or becoming a hybrid knight / 3. Be calm and collected, shoot with purpose. / Spam when you only decided to / 4. Aim way up front. The main things you should focus on is enemy's speed and position. 5. / Aim slightly higher than your horizon / Aim lower for targets that are at lower level to you. 6. The main things to look for: - change in the strafe direction: attack when opponent changes direction - strike when opponent jumps (or double jumps in case of scouts): they cannot change direction in that position. Try hitting juggles (try aiming shots at their feet / use stickies) - use chokes. Bait the opponent into them. Predict time when they show up. - shoot the objective / places the opponent will be around: cap points, carts, dispensers 7. Do not count on hitting long range targets much. Shooting long range is usually best for area control. Exception to that would be shooting unsuspecting targets. 8. Groups can be overwhelming, but pipes can destroy them easily. Aim for individuals or center of the group's mass / and be patient and calm /

10k Demoman. Gaining ground/advantages, jumping/Rjumping, weapon switching, are all changes in movement or predictable movements. (Anything that will lower how much brain power or fingers someone is putting into dodging will increase your chance of hitting). Most classes have very common but different for each movement patterns abuse that. Knowing what your enemy wants in depth is really useful. Follow up pipes from the first hit are really consistent in hitting if you understand that good players know when they're gonna get hit by a pipe and will try and dodge the "second one" this only works if they're good and aware of you. If it's a high percentage shot try and knock them up and follow up with a secondary. ALWAYS try and predict how people are gonna move when knocked around so you can hit the follow up shot its like chaining CC. I was really good at following up on the first pipe with a second one especially on any airborne targets. I would wait for any indication of a low percentage shot or wait for them to focus a teammate; you should really be waiting for any chance to increase your hit in any facet, I tried my best to avoid any "no-percentage" shot meaning any shot with no advantage and just use my pipes or stickies to keep the opponent away from me until I could get support. Usually playing demo man if someone gets on you you'll get assistance almost immediately if properly positioned so just making it really hard for the enemy to get near you is really useful.

Nice guide! I was thinking of doing a guide for pipes but I never got around to doing it because I didn't know how to put some of the concepts into words, but you pulled it off very well. I used the Sticky Jumper for so much that I forgot how it feels to lay down traps or charge at someone. I started using it to practice direct hits whit pipes and, after some time, airshots (since I'm still really bad at pipe aiming). I used to be a spy main for a long time, and I never thought that a "black scottish cyclops" would have been my favorite class to play. I need to thank you for this video, it really helped me whit pipes and made me feel much more comfortable whit this beautiful drunk demolition man. Also I think that the only way tr_walkway can help whit demo is timing a pipe for air shots. Then, when you got the basics, I'd suggest to go on an MGE server and play only Endif to actually airshot a conscious enemy that airstrafes (which might be a problem to deal whit) and that also tries to launch you in the air to do the same thing as you. I'd like to point out that the reason you have to aim farther down than it seems when looking down on enemies is because pipes are shot upwards in relation to your crosshair. In level plane combat, this is minimized by the height of player hitboxes and the downward arc trajectory of the projectile, but when looking down, the arc is less significant and you are looking at the narrowest part of the hitbox.

Something I've found that's helped is to practice as a hybrid knight rather than using the sticky jumper. You still have to use your grenade launcher but it takes the pressure off during fights knowing you can escape or have something to fall back on
