TF2 is actually still one of the most played games on PC. More than 50-60k players on a daily basis, which for a 13 years old game, is kind of a big score.

Fun fact. Soldier has been rejected from every branch of the military, so he went to Europe on his own in 1945, to kill Nazis in Poland. No one told him the war was already over. Second fact: Scout has dog tags. Meaning he likely has been in the military. Scout has more professional military experience than soldier. Third fact: after meet the medic released, a rare event was added. Anytime a scout gets blown to bits, there’s a 1% chance a dove will fly out of the body parts. Also, tf2 released 10/10/07, went f2p in 6/11, and has still been active since. That is part of why tf3 hasn’t happened....oh, and the fact valve can’t count to 3.

Likes to wear expensive suits and drink expensive booze. Hates most of the rest of the team for being retards. Always has an escape plan out of dodgy situations. -Medic: German mad scientist that likes to experiment on his team mates on the field. Often works with Engineer putting things back together.... whether it is battle gear, or people. Once added nine more souls to his own, and used that to bargain his soul out of hell by hustling the Devil himself. -Pyro: Nobody knows anything about him, except he likes fire, lollipops and rainbows. Often bathes in gasoline.

Fun Fact: Pyro isn't actually crazy. As shown in the comics, "Pyroland" is actually a metaphor for the childlike glee pyromaniacs feel setting things on fire. Once he quit being a mercenary, he managed to start his own big business, and it's shown "Pyroland" only manifests when he's around fire. He's fully aware that he's burning people alive, he just has a hell of a time doing it. Edit: I mistakenly believed pyro completely loses his hallucinations, but he still has hallucinations, it's just that pyromania causes sunshine and rainbows to happen. He is still fairly intelligent though, showing that the hallucinations do not hinder him in any way.

Also fun little fact, if you look back into Meet The Spy, you can see the battle between spy and sniper before spy kills him he slices his face. After they released the video they updated the sniper in game to show the same scar. Pretty neat.

These meet the team videos are actually canon. People of Teufort ( or other places at America ) didnt like mercenary's so a group of people decided to make videos about who are they. Sniper found it annoying and others found it suspicious.

Fun fact, the pyro has an actual helmet that make you see like he does in the game, your flamethrower changes to rainbow and etc.... Also TF2 was very big when it came out, but like any long running game, people moved on and it is now a somewhat less played game, but still has solid mechanics. All in all a very good game for it's time.

Thanks for reacting to my request, guys, you rock! There's a couple more TF2 vids I'd love to see you guys react to sometime but I'll mention those another time, don't want to be greedy! As to the popularity of TF2, it's actually historically been the most popular game on Steam and even today it's often in the top current players (store.steampowered.com/stats/) on their more or less real-time list. But Valve is really unpredictable about sequels as we know from the Half Life and Left 4 Dead series.

Because TF2 is good as is, and updates are what we need. Creating a triquel would be a waste of storage space on our side, and a waste of development resources on Valve's side for something barely anyone asked for. It would be utterly pointless to create a triquel from the ground up when TF2 can be updated instead.

My favourite thing about TF2 is they made the healer class not only pretty cool, but also so intensely game changing that playing him isn't always an absolute chore. When you play medic you actually sort of feel like the character, surrounded by idiots who are your scientific experiments by proxy. Ubercharge sounds pretty cool already with its invulnerability, but the fact you can spread it to multiple people at the same time, while all the classes can deal massive damage in a short period of time... It's probably the most powerful ability in any shooter game there is (happy to be corrected!).

I'd argue Team Fortress 2 was actually pretty huge from 2010-2014, but once Valve slowed down on the updates and new animated shorts, people became less interested and more advanced games like Overwatch came around to compete with TF2. The game is basically on life support solely from the community itself.

continuation on Nighthawk's comment: -Heavy has a PhD in Russian Literature, which has a saying that the bullet is the dumbest in the battlefield -In the TF2 universe, New Zealand was sunken due to the Sniper's father "foreseeing" a catastrophe, meaning they sunk it, he later had another prophecy, in which he demanded that they now launch NZ to space, but because they didn't have money, it wasn't done, and his dad had built a spaceship for himself to escape to orbit, but because of a fight between of both his father and mother, a baby Sniper got in it, which flooded NZ as a consequence, the rocket malfunctioned and he crashlanded near the house of said Aussie farmers -Both the Engineer and the Medic have worked toghether in projects, one of which was the cause of the debacle of Expiration Date -The Scout's father is the Spy, he also bought a bunch of Tom Jones' memorabilia -The Demoman's family tradition is for descendants to be put on adoption when they're born, so that once they develop their family trait, which is making explosives, they adopt them back -The Demoman's adoptive parents were killed when he fought the Lochness monster when he was 10 -The Soldier has the lowest IQ of them all, and subsequentially, can't read -The Spy knows he's the Scout's father, and in the comics, as well as with interactions with Miss Pauling, the Administrator's secretary, has been shown to want to destroy any possible DNA tests that may invlve himself, like reading a book on How To Beat A DNA Test -In the comics, the Spy confessed to Scout he was his father while disguised as Tom Jones -The MediGun the Medic uses in that video, later became part of his loadout, but didn't have an Übercharge. Why? Because it had a short-circuit when doing so -There's a cosmetic called the Pyrovision Goggles that let you see how they see when put on, meaning other players when they explode into pieces, they explode with confetti instead of blood, and it's gender has become a gag within the TF2 team, like how the Scout asks "He's not here, is she?"

It's an old game at this point, but I'd call it an ageless classic. I'd call a game dead when you're having trouble finding a game, but I still play this daily, it has a large fanbase and I've yet to have any trouble finding a game to join. In fact, most games are pretty full, so I don't know where this "dead" nonsense is coming from, aside from people's subjective perceptions.

Tf2 is almost 13 years old and was ahead of its time. It's still a pretty popular game today although not as popular as before. It inspired a lot of modern team-based shooters like overwatch and paladins. there is even an engineer skin in paladins as an homage to tf2. Overwatch's game director, JEff Kaplan said once that tf2 is one of his most fave games and he considers the comparison as "the world’s greatest compliment" this game is a classic at this point no matter how many people call it "dead", being a 13 year old game that is still playable is a feat to me. fun fact: the demoman and heavy were voiced by the same person. TF2, now over 1000 days without a major update, bots are still filling servers, competitive is abandoned, MvM as well. Somehow Its not dead yet and I believe we will be getting more updates soon.
