He's got a reason, pre-nerf Dead Ringer was stupidily overpowered and, like he said, almost all spy players used it as a crutch rather than use it smartly, since before nerf that stupid shit used to refill with ammo boxes, so spies would just spam the fucking thing nonstop until they were killed. It was just as a annoying as the Sandman + clever combo, with the sandman's ball fully stunning players from any distance and the cleaver dealing Crits from any distance, essentially one shotting most classes, except it was even worse than it because the sandman and the cleaver at least required skill, the DR didn't.

The reason stock spies hit more shots than amby spies is, the stock spies are aiming for the center of the hit box, while the amby spies are usually aiming for the head hit box, so you have way more room to miss with the amby. Also, I love the little detail of how the case number is 102, the amount of damage a regular amby headshot does.
