Yeah, but with the invis, you can't see him at all. I think it should brew reverted without a speed boost (the cloak thing isn't as bad with the stranger). And it isn't any more unfun than the diamondback (unlike the frontier justice, you can't tell when he has crits) or the kunai.

@@gamerplayer8882 The difference between the Invisiwatch, Cloak and Dagger and Dead Ringer; is two of them are high risk, high reward; and the other is just used as a reset button. That's the way they were designed. The Invisiwatch is designed for you to play hyper aggressive, as you can often decloak close to the enemy; but since you can't reliably escape if called out or ignited; you've got to play with your teams pushes; or position yourself intelligently; or you'll be called out and killed easily. The reward is being able to take out anyone if you're intelligent; and being almost impossible to catch if you're good; the downside is being easily killed if you get caught. The Cloak and Dagger is a more laid back version of the Invisiwatch; allowing for a Spy to camp out and bide his time for the moment to strike. It often leads to turtling, and wasting time; which can result in missed stabs and potential; but there is something to be said about coordinating attacks with your team to ensure it gets done right. And finally; we have the Dead Ringer; somebody see you? Right click and now you can run away and resupply. Move in for the kill; someone call you out? Now you can run away and resupply. This is all the Dead Ringer is designed to do; and all people use it for. It's an emergency retreat button; and regardless of how long you can stay alive with it; if you're constantly leaving the battle to wait for it to recharge; instead of doing your job, you're no different from a Cloak and Dagger Spy.

Nerf's quality in their blasters has decreased drastically. So drastically that they are almost getting out competed. The reasoning for this is because Nerf blasters took a nerf and now are garbage in comparison to Dart Zone or X shot. It's to a point where I would say "it's dart zone or nothing" because they are more reliable nowadays.

Dead ringer feign death is a sort of one trick phony that gives you a short boost and resistance when activated. C&D is used to be patient and stab in right moments or more likely stalk your enemies, but wiol still take damage. Stock watch is based to roam around the map more freely making it easy for you get behind enemy territory, but will take damage. And now the revolvers witch consist with two guns with crits, one to boost your stealth, one to deal reliable damage and... *looks at the enforcer* Memeable I guest? And the knives well each knife has a different uses. YER is to be sneaky. Kunai is to be an aggressive weeb. Big Earner is to be flexible in mobility like a scout giving spy more advantages. Spy-cicle to eighter escape from PYROnoia or to create PYROnoia. Stock is just your go to spy knife as it. to trick peopels your a f2p. and finally sappers. Ellectro-Sapper is a Try hard sapper. Red-Tape Recorder to annoy engies and memeable. and no I am not a f2p I literally do several mann up in two cities. and goje to scrap tf to just get the black box, The Concherlor and Half Katoichi since I don't trust medics and it qas worth it.

Well, in some maps such as, I think it's CTI Turbine? The only exits you have are literally in view of anyone camping one or the other. But yeah, multiple exits often helps on most maps.

Fluffle puff Destroyer of worlds agreed, the dead ringer was waaaay to spammable, although now its very unreliable unless you play gun spy with l'étranger and the big earner. Although the ambassador nerf was unnecessary, it was a good and balanced weapon and rewarded good players with access to long distance harassment and bad players with a downgrade from stock. What they really should have focused on was nerfing the diamondback and making the enforcer actually usable. At this point when I play spy I don't even use any of his unlocks I just play with stock. I used to use the your eternal reward but the nerfed the hell out of that weapon too and now its basically unusable without the l'étranger. Ig they wanted the weapon to be accesible for new players that couldn't get the first stab which isn't even that hard you just need good positioning. Truly sad stock is back to being the only thing remotely viable

RockyGaming I don't think so either, I just think they went too far with it. If I had it my way, I would trade the afterburn immunity for 20% more damage resist on initial hit. It's more of a middle point between the old and the new DR, is still 20% less than the old DR, and should perhaps put the spy-cicle out of the trashcan.

Nerfing it actually does make sense with "My favorite class is the Spy," if the bazillion observations that a lot of people used it as a brainless "get out of jail free" card are at all accurate. The Spy is described in developer commentary as a class whose goal is to outsmart his enemies. That suggests Spy players are meant to be alert and using their brains; the Dead Ringer acting as a crutch for inattentive play _would_ run counter to that. That being said... I can see a crutch of _some_ sort actually being somewhat justified by the fact that the Spy's disguises have been increasingly undermined by metagame knowledge. But it should be a better-balanced one, if that can be managed.

The problem is that design is ultimately flawed and really Spy is just a good newb killer. The Spy currently is the worst class in the game easily. Once people know how he works he's very easily rendered useless or at least significantly neutered. You can't outsmart people who know every trick he has, all they need to do is turn around every so often and be aware of certain parts of the map where the Spy can drop from above or other forms of cover that he can pop out from. The Dead Ringer enabled (and still kinda does) the spy to be far more active and to take far more risks rather then sit and wait for the perfect opportunity, waste time and basically be useless until that time occurred. I mean sure against a team heavily distracted a Spy can wreck, but at that point almost any other choice would also 'wreck'. I mean look at how Spy is played in higher level highlander. He's used as recon with cloak and dagger to call out people's positions. Useful sure, but not practical in a pub game.

I remember being on Highpass with a(n advance?) Spy contract back when contracts were new, requiring me to get a certain number of backstabs or whatever. I was bad (and still am) as Spy but the (then) Dead Ringer made me more aggressive as a Spy then what I usually am (a Cloak and Dagger guy). I got more backstabs and lived longer at that time than I have ever got as a Spy ever. It was fun, not going to lie.

Andrew Kibler First of all when did I say pyros weren't buffed in the tough break update? Degreaser didn't get a ammo nerf it got a more cost to airblast stat. The axtinguisher was one of the best pyro melees, that is if you know how to use it of course. Which you don't seem like you know how to use it to me. The 20 heath heal for every doused fire with the airblast encourages pyros to extinguish teammates (and not use the phlog too much Also, "Pyro's basically got a fucking 50% damage increase overall" It's Pyros.

Vortex Kiki The axtinguisher was shit before the change and is still shit after the change. You could never reap the critical hit reward on any competent player. the vanilla version axtinguisher was broken as shit, mostly with degreaser. but it still fell flat at high levels of play a lot. (as far as I know) That damage increase was vital for pyro. he now does respectable damage at a farther range. You had to be basically hugging a enemy as Pyro to deal deadly damage, which that alone was problematic for him as a class.

Vexarik Well that's what Pyro is for. Also the purpose of the Dead Ringer is to escape by fooling your enemies into thinking your dead, not cheating death. The new stats like a speed boost better fit the original purpose. It also desperately needed the stat of it being half-drained on a faked death. It use to be someone could fake death like 3 times in a row if they uncloaked right after activating it.

I agree, there are many ways other than a Dead Ringer Spy to take out a spawn camping Demoman. You could fake coming out (seriously, get a Medic to temporarily pocket you to fake them out by stepping back as soon as you're within reach of the door in which the door will open). The obvious Uber is another way. A Pyro can air blast them as well. Use a Scottish Resistance and trap the door then have someone open it; boom, problem solved. A Soldier can knock them away with a rocket. A stock Spy can follow a friendly out a different door while cloaked and reroute until they come back to the Demoman (disguised as their friendly of course) and take care of it. Hell, if you got it, you can even go Scout with Bonk! Atomic Punch, run out and kill him after the 8 seconds passes. If you can time it right, have someone open the door then hit them with a ball from a Sandman and follow up with any number of ways to kill him. I don't know how much resistance it will bring, but have one Medic overheal a Heavy and another use explosive resistance Vaccinator Uber and see if you can't get out that way. Everyone complaining that the one way they see something being useful suddenly becoming useless in their eyes just can't see the forest for the trees. Unless it is cripplingly nerfed to the point even basic functionality escapes it, nothing is ever truly 'useless', you just need to find what other ways it excels and what can replace what it used to provide for you.

+ljliang11 You gain crit chance based on how much damage you've done in the past 30 seconds. Explosives do an obscene amount of damage and thus gain the chance much faster than say a minigun unless the heavy is literally right beside enemies constantly. Melee weapons have an inherent increases crit chance and the gain boosts it to like 65%. This also counts assisted damage off of say a medigun healing a damage dealer or a sentry gun, which is why medics and engies have higher crit chances.
