Old comment I know. But Glock had gotten rid of their p80 GEN1 molds. These things literally had to be recreated before they could be made. if you ever worked in tooling and manufacturing, especially in a company that does volume like Glock, you'd get that you'd have to divert some of your funds, while still being a top seller, to recreate this retro project. It's not like they took a gen 3 and ground it down to a gen 1. They had to rebuild all this tooling to make this happen.

I was primarily a 1911 guy and secondary SIG fan guy. As time went by started to appreciate the system on the simplicity part. 1911s and SIGS are for shooters who have finesse of loving fine triggers and complicated systems. Glock is "Cookie Cutter", "Plastic Fantastic". It made sense to me later when I trained regular folks and future police officers on how much I cut down on training except for the horrible triggers. I taught myself to overcome the trigger and shoot it proficiently. Otherwise it is a fantastically thought out combat handgun.

I had a Gen 1 Glock 17 that I bought in Guam in 1987. I messed up & sold it in Norfolk, VA. on my way to the P.I. in January 89. Wish I had kept it. I still have an Original Glock sticker that came with it, and a blue card with the serial number.

@@Rubeless Well, I guess thousands of law enforcement agencies, militaries, and private security agencies are "retards"... PCC's are very practical for indoor security, if you've ever done any sort of room-clearing and have shot an M4 indoors (not including at a sound proofed range), it'll definitely ring your bell and disorientate a bit you even with proper ear-pro, I absolutely dreaded even using sim-rounds in mine. Why else would SOCOM use the Mp5? I would absolutely love a .45acp or 10mm PCC from glock. I would much rather shoot a pistol caliber when there is dry wall as a back stop.

My Glock is a Gen3 model 27 that is 16 years old and has not needed to be repaired once. It is still more mechanically solid than many of the new guns I go and check out today. Whether people like Glock or not, one can't argue that they provided a reliable gun that fit the needs for many different demographics and work sectors.

@@theelite1x721987 Glocks aren't that expensive as an overall purchase, but they ARE overpriced as a striker fired handgun... since gen 3 on, they should be taurus prices.

@@DinoNucci I'd carry my G48 or G17 over the Taurus anyday. And in fact, that's exactly what I do. My carry guns can go to hell and back and still function perfectly. The Taurus ain't bad, but I don't trust it to the same degree. Worth the extra hundred bucks for me.

I still have my Gen2 Glock 22 that I bought in 1994. Tupperware case and all. It doesn't see as much day light as it used to because I've been bit by the cowboy gun bug lately. But It's still a great pistol. I've never seen a reason to "upgrade" to a more modern one.
