Thanks for the comment. Did you by any chance miss yesterday's Jeep Patriot review or did you just jump the gun on this comment.

I love the JK, especially with the Pentastar and will be looking to get one sometime soon, but the point of a Range Rover is not to be the ultimate offroad at all costs. They make the Defender which is a lot closer to that mission. It still has to be nice to drive on the highway and around town, which the RRS is. The JK is A LOT better than older Jeeps. Not to mention it has 510 hp and has a top speed about twice that of a TJ in perfect comfort. Point is: two completely different missions.

Roman, I look at it like this. When you take your LR product off the highway it becomes a tool. Tools are designed and meant to be used. Scratches can be repainted and skid plates can be replaced. To me, Land Rover is a "Lifestyle" vehicle. Others use it as a status symbol. I don't mind that. It allows a guy like me to buy a 2-3 year old Range Rover that's hardly seen a gravel road at a HUGE discount. In the garage we have a '73 SERIES III, '86 DEFENDER 110 TDi, '09 LR3, and a '10 Range Rover.

C. M. H. I agree, even Newer ones, my wife’s Range Rover velar first edition is often used to tow horse boxes, trailers. I even used it the other day to tow a 28ft combine header across 150acres of wet boggy fields

Thank you for your reply. I too have looked up the numbers but I was looking for Roma's first hand experience.

I just hope and wish it is a commercial success. Land Rover and Jaguar has the right products now, not sure how long it can sustain with such low numbers.

The instructor said land rover do not do two wheel drive vehicles but they have them in Europe for the Freelander (LR2).

Roman, how does the Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel compare with the RR Sport?
@LysergikFuneral11 жыл бұрын
Yep and the old JK with the 3.8 had only 202hp. So 285 is a lot better, but still nothing compared to the 510ho in the RRS (which is part of why it is $90k).. If you need more powah, get the Ripp Supercharger which will give something like 100hp more. Or trade for a V8 Grand Cherokee.
@2050Wheels11 жыл бұрын
land rover also makes the freelander (lr2) and evoque as 2wd (at least for europe)

If you get a chance I think it would be great to test these off road suv's in Ouray Colorado on poughkeepsie gulch trail. Maybe one or two times a year it's kinda far but would be worth the trip...

Awesome, getting one soon.

Just a testimony to the electronics - the tires really don't seem offroad stuff at all!

You say "people who buy there aren't going to do this", but you're absolutely wrong. Every dealership does safari trips locally and there are a ton of people who do this. I've had a dozen Range Rovers and mine are always in dirt, mud and snow.
@nyak63RUS8 жыл бұрын
You've had *12* range rovers?!? That's a really terrible track record. I've had two 4Runners... because they last. Why are you burning through vehicles so quickly? Also, you must understand that the vast, vast majority of buyers would never take their vehicles offroad.
@onemoretime1078 жыл бұрын
Tax write offs. I buy 2 a year and rotate them. Because the Range Rovers GVW is so high, you can write off 38K, instead of the 7,500. And you're wrong, most of us do take them off road. The dealerships do their safari's 2 or 3 times a year and they have 100's of people these vehicles that show up. You just don't realize we do beat the shit out of them for fun.

I know what you mean, it's hard to capture just how steep a hill is... From doing downhill skiing a lot and looking at footage of place I'd been, or going places I'd seen, video never does justice to terrain.

While I understand that its not possible to do new content every day it does seem like these types of videos with the manufacturer reps in them amount to little more than a long car commercial. It sucks because you guys are very good in your independent reviews but these infomercials are of little value in my opinion. Still love the channel though!
