Study after study after study has proven that the reason why minivans don’t sell is because women won’t drive them. End of story men are much more open to owning them because you can remove the seats and all stuff in them. This isn’t even a new trend people were pulling up to school in Tahoe’s when my daughter was in grade school in 2007.

You are so right. Buddy used a minivan to haul everything needed to finish his basement. But many women wouldn’t be caught dead in the minivan. I’ve heard it said so many times by females I work with. The few that have accepted the truth of practicality rave about their vans tho. “Coolness” be damned! LOL. Anyways, I really like this Traverse. And I really like the Tahoe as well.

Because it’s better to have the extra power/space when you don’t need it than not have it when you do. Tahoe is the best value in its class because of its design and packaging. I just rented one of these for a week in Hawaii and have a few opinions. At first, I thought it was kind of fun and I really liked the big screens, but it was quickly annoying how you couldn’t really do anything with the screens because everything requires a data subscription and of course the rental company won’t pay for it. Ended up using CarPlay the whole time, but that was fine. Onto the car and really it just became unlikable in a few different ways. First is that the engine feels pretty wimpy. The transmission almost seems like a CVT. It’s just so lackluster but honestly, it was actually pretty peppy. It just felt weak with Wimpy sound that I’m just not used to with my German SUV. The next big gripe is the technology. Just kind of sucks. The lane keeping assist loves bouncing you from lying to line left to right and it doesn’t mind if you crossover into oncoming traffic it won’t do anything about it. I don’t know if it’s because Hawaii has some satellite issues or sun glare or whatever but I can only get the adaptive cruise control to work 40% of the time. Most of the time it just tells you crash detection is disabled. Just a cheap quality feel of everything. Thin body parts, thin plastics, cheap plastics in the interior that are flexible. Just everything looks really super cheap coming from my daily driver. I know American people think contrast stitching is some sort of sign of luxury, but it’s not. It’s just different color threads . Also, Annoying was the placement of the rear cupholders. I can’t tell you how many times I smashed my elbow on somebody’s bottle. I wanted to just chuck them out the window. Also is super freaking annoying that every time you walk past the back of the car, the trunk opens automatically. You don’t even have to swipe your foot. It has some sort of range detect. Option to completely shut off for manual trunk opening which sucks. Other than that, you have to suffer if you have a kid in the seat and every time you get them in the car and you wanna switch sides of the car quickly to buckle another kid you got then go back and close your trunk. It’s super annoying, annoying, and definitely wouldn’t be ideal in a big city situation where there’s 1 million people willing to steal your stuff when you’re not peeking. All in all, I just really didn’t like the vehicle that much but at the end of the day it wasn’t that bad. I think somebody who’s not driving a German luxury SUV on a daily basis would probably find this really nice and a good modern upgrade with lots of technology , but it’s technology that barely works and you’re just getting straightforward quality with thin metals flames or build materials. Oh, and oh my God, the wind noise and road noise are tremendous. I thought I had windows open. I could hear so much wind blowing through all the seams. I’m just so used to my current vehicle with double insulated glass and super thick, gaskets and sound deadening on all the body panels that you just don’t hear anything when you’re driving unless you’re hitting a big bump. The first five minutes of being in the car kind of changed my opinion about American cars, but then after driving for a week, I have to say American cars just quite aren’t to snuff

@G-Rated 5 ай бұрын
Lol. NAh, nothing could cannibalize the Tahoe’s sales. For as long as cars travel on the ground many people will always want the latest Chevrolet Tahoe regardless, people just love them so much and not just Americans. I think you’re criminally underestimating the value of the Tahoe. A mid-size RWD SUV wouldn’t cannibalize Tahoe sales. The only slightly less expensive but significantly smaller SUV wouldn’t sell as well as you think, that’s why *gm* has a lack of interest. It won’t have a V8 it’ll have the same 2.7t as the Colorado. With the level of tech and comfort *gm* offers today, top trims of that mid-size SUV would be well into the $60k’s and for that kind of money they’ll inevitably be circling around the Tahoe on the showroom floor anyway especially when you’re getting so much more for your money.

They should’ve kept the V6 in the traverse, or at least as an option. Some people like that low end torque. Plus, downsizing to a 4 cylinder in a vehicle this size isn’t going to make much of an mpg difference at all. I really like the new updated 2024 Traverse Z71 when I first saw it and was seriously contemplating buying one as my new vehicle even with the steep 54k price tag. But to put a 4 cyl on a big & heavy SUV, even if it is turbo charged, is just a deal breaker for me. GM really dropped the ball on this one! They could of at least offered a v6 as an option especially on the z71 package and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. Nope, not gonna pay 54k for a grocery hauler.

@@NWI_Steel that in and of itself isnt necessarily indicative of the reason. Ford uses it's 2.7 and 3.5 Ecoboost architecture in both transverse and longitudinal applications. So it technically was possible to implement by GM here too, but likely there were other considerations that made the smaller displacement more advantageous/appropriate.

Lately, GM has come out with some nice vehicles, for example the new Trax and this Traverse, but I would hesitate due to the engines. An optional 4 cylinder, or better yet a hybrid Trax and a V6 in the Traverse would seem to attract more buyers. Why would I buy this when I can get a (likely) more reliable V6 Grand Cherokee, or better yet, the 4xe GC?

Tahoe is WAY more reliable, the v-8 options are bulletproof. I have the smaller 5.3 and it's got plenty of power. It also has better towing, better off-road manners, more space, easier/cheaper to work on, and better resale value. The traverse will get slightly better fuel economy, have a slightly better ride and be a little less expressive up-front. But when you factor in depreciation and potential repair costs over time for the traverse, it would probably be close to a wash on overall cost. I'd consider leasing it to be safe.

I even put money down on it. Then I drove another vehicle that was smoother and more powerful. A real shame because I love the looks of the new Traverse. Be sure to test drive everything before making decisions.
