Andreas Lie not necessarily true! Just because it boasted as a driver's car doesn't mean it truly is. I have driven on tracks before and the most fun I've had were in cars of 260hp or more. AWD and RWD. Those cars had monster torque with enough power to hunt down other cars on the track. Simply taking the FR-S on a track isn't the full focus of the fun, it's taking it on the track and hunting down other cars passing to truly get the feeling of a real racer.

Crazy to think the automatic tC is quicker than the manual FR-S (which is geared like a sports car), because the manual tC is a bit quicker than the automatic. Undersquare engine vs oversquare engine on short distance, but still, the FR-S revs higher, and it actually has a better torque to weight ratio even tho it's 20lb-ft less, not to mention the 30hp more and RWD on 200lbs less.

@byronnlangley8 жыл бұрын
+Tanner M. Bro I'm all about that I own a 2011 scion TC and I know how much torque they have, the FRS is more of a high rpm track car which is is great at. The FRS is a great concept but many insiders feel Subaru should have added more power with a turbo. Personally I feel Subaru didn't want to undercut its WRX sales.
@Shortay13255 жыл бұрын
Everyone, the drag experiment they did is terrible. My fiance and I own a 2014 Scion tC 6-speed manual for our daily and my fiance personally owns a 2017 Toyota 86 6-speed manual. We raced them both stock and I can tell you right now that they are way closer than this crap. The torque on the tC takes the 86/frs/brz up until about 65 mph, give or take a few mph, and then the 86/frs/brz shines with its high end power and starts walking away after that. I thought I would fill all of you in to clear some things up since both my fiance and I own the manual versions of these cars.
@hduncan258710 жыл бұрын
Another thing to consider here, most drag racers know that an automatic is more consistant (if not always faster) than a manual, again putting the tC at an advantage (a manual is quicker in these cars if you look at magazine test, but again-- consistency by helping eliminate driver error helps here). And indeed, being a mile from sea level is bad for any N/A car, especially one considered so gutless-- buy hey, the hp/torque difference is still less than the S2000! The nice thing about the tC against the Si and GTi is it is what it is-- there is no "base" model with less power (albeit the bones are based on an economy car outside the U.S., but that's another story).

I don't care how quick the tC is in a drag race-- I know it gives the FR-S a good run for its money there. That doesn't make it a sports car like an FR-S is. Sport compact, yes, but not a sports car... and you're still far better off going with a Civic Si, GTi, etc. By saying the tC is more logical of a buy than the FR-S-- yes, it is. But that's where the difference between a hot-hatch/sport compact and a devoted sports car comes in.

Like Roman said, the FR-S REALLY needs a turbo option. I don't know why they haven't bothered making one yet, but it really, really needs one. But at least my car won the drag race

Does anyone really take any Scion on the track?
@Titopro8810 жыл бұрын
People say it doesnt need a turbo because of what kind of car it is, it is built to be a fun car, not the fastest car, but a turbo would be nice

+Fxckin Civik NEXT time watch car reviewers. For years critics have posted videos showing FRS is weak on horsepower. my preference is the Honda S2000. Rear-wheel drive, perfect balance, AND horsepower. The professionals over at EverydayDriver agree . . .

And this is why my 97 ram 2500 can keep pace with the fr-s in a drag race;I mean it's got me in the corners like nobodies business but damn
@Shinuchiha_996 жыл бұрын
Lol that 97 ram must have like 400 horse then cuz I would smoke you in my 2016 tc.. Smoked my buddies 5.9 2001 ram 2500 hemi the other night by an eighth of a mile... Pretty sure your little sheep wagon couldnt keep up
@jayk75574 жыл бұрын
Imagine if the tc wasn't an automatic. My buddy and I were memeing around in his comfort line Jetta with a stick and smoked an auto v6 challenger. 180tq and 145hp with a stick, vs 190tq and 178hp with an auto

@jayk75574 жыл бұрын
@@berettaxd7566 yeah my tc is manual. First gear rips hard. 60kmh to redline in like 2 seconds. Really peppy for a 4 cylinder. Less than 7 seconds to 100kmh

I can beat the tc easy, the only distance he can get me for is max 200meters ill get him after that in 1/4 mile race u need to know how to use paddles.

maybe a lil more specificity wold make your comment sound like an interesting race. Otherwise, all you've done is make two vague references, that manifested themselves together, in the form of one nonsensical sentence.

Honestly this is an EMBARRASSMENT that the FR-S gets beat in a drag race by a tC. Yes yes we bloody get it you want to have your car a lightweight sports car like the AE86 but that's not an excuse for a SPORTS car to be beat by a SPORTY car
@supersayin110 жыл бұрын
Agreed!!!
@PrinceDavid10 жыл бұрын
supersayin1 Toyota can make very good engines, in fact the Camry engines are fantastic. I don't know why the engine they put in the FR-S was so lame.
@Stuka8710 жыл бұрын
Prince David Because the engine in the FR-S is a Subaru engine. A very underpowered one at that. If a WRX can have a turbo and AWD for nearly the same cost, there is no reason why the FR-S/BRZ couldn't also have a turbo.

It's funny hahah I own both these slow ass cars. My 86 is fun in the canyons though I was chasing a V6 Camaro and it kept up quite nicely, was on his tail most of the time. I tuned it with a catted header so it was able to stay behind even when he tried to pull away on the straight lines. So it's not horribly slow once you fix that torque dip.

I can't see these Scions being a success in the USA. They require a degree of skill from the driver to extract their performance, one can't rely on huge dollops of torque to overcome driver ineptitude. They're a lot more than US drivers can handle.
@carbonbonds301910 жыл бұрын
I agree. Seems like all US drivers care about is straight line speed. Fucking pathetic. There is also a reason why all of these RWD cars are crashing left and right, dumb fucks can't even correct a simple oversteer.

They are a huge success here in America, you wish you lived in the USA!
@rykalskyes888810 жыл бұрын
Another stereotypical comment about Americans. You'd be very suprised, MrKeyboard, at how many Americans know what they're about with a good car and curvy road. Or do you think all American roads are straight? Spend some time with Google Earth.
