@@killquinn97 I have an 190k 06 tC 5 speed manual that’s driven pretty hard. I’ve hardly had a lot of problems with it yet, and it’s relatively easy to service and DIY if you got tools around the corner. It barely burns oil (Around per 2-3k/qt, mostly highway driven) especially at 190k. The automatic transmission is good as far as I know. Engine restore additive also helped further reduce oil burning (although not recommended for VVTI systems) If you’re going with the first gen I recommend getting the 05-06 model, since those don’t have an infamous oil burning problem. Fun, reliable cars to drive, just watch for the maintenance history, history of neglect can cause problems especially when you’re at higher mileage. Avoid the 07-10, the 05-06 is the way to go IMO. The 2nd gen is also solid. 6MT or 6AT The 2AR FEs have addressed a lot of the 2azfe issues. Never owned one though. But they’re fun sporty cars.

I’ve got a 2008 tC that I bought four years ago as a first car for my son in high school. Fun to drive, surprisingly roomy, and hasn’t needed any repairs except the one thing no one has mentioned: the flimsy plastic handle for opening the heavy hatchback. Mine was held on with glue and velcro when I bought the car. It’s a common enough problem that there are multiple different aftermarket parts to choose from. I got a color matched upgraded part with metal reinforcement for cheap online. Keep your eyes open and you’ll see a lot of tC’s driving around with hatchback handles that are either taped on or not color matched.

I have a 07 scion tc It was my first car and haven't got another since. Bought it at 93k miles and now have 152k miles. I've owned it for around 7 years now and let me tell you it has been very good to me. It's only been in a shop a few times for little things like oil change and that rubber liner thing for the head gasket which was $35. It burns oil now for sure but it's either due to mileage or what scotty said a few videos ago on the piston rings were not made right. started acting slightly weird around 145k. But the quality of this toyota it keeps on going. I'll wait until the engine blows until I get another vehicle.

Two years ago, I left my 2005 Scion xb with valet parking (no other parking choice), then went inside the restaurant to eat. A few minutes later, the valet came looking for me, “Ma’am can you park your car for me? I don’t know how to drive a car with manual transmission.” So, I parked & retrieved my own car, didn’t have to pay. Lol It has 235k mi, and I probably spend less than $1k annually for maintenance & repairs. Every 3 or 4 months I have to put in a quart of oil. That’s the only thing I do myself. Otherwise, I bring it to the dealer. I know I could probably find someone less expensive to work on my car. I’m paying for convenience, and it’s cheap enough for me. It’s still a blast to drive, and is the best money I ever spent on a car. Even if I end up buying a “late age crisis” car of my dreams, I will never let this one go!

We had an '08 TC and had major oil burning (the notorious 2.4) that started at around 72K miles. The rest of the car was ok, but felt very cheap when compared to my '07 Civic SI. I sold it last year and I still see it on the road around town. The interior noise was also very loud.

Had one just like that, 2012 w/the 2.5 liter Camry engine, loved it. Didn't get great mpg for a small car, 25 for suburban type driving, but that was about the only downside. Now have the Matrix, also a lot like Scotty's lol, 2010 with 1.8 liter, pretty gutless in comparison but gets 34-35 mpg on the same type of roads

I had a friend of mine go over very deep water in her 2012 aut TC!! water got in the engine obviously but she kept on going and nothing happened and she got home with no issues but after that day it sat for a bit and after it was running funny so she took it to the mechanic! they changed a couple of parts and then it was like nothing happened !! It's been 4 years and it's running perfectly and it's her daily driver to pretty far away for her job with lots of hills and harsher driving! Car is driving like a champ!! Fully recommend! I bought a 2011 Scion tC for $8,000 with 121,000 miles on it. I learned how to drive manual on it and am very happy with it! No engine or transmission problems at all. Just regular maintenance and whatnot. Its the same engine as a Camry so a healthy engine will last a long time. The back seat has about as much legroom as a 2011 Toyota Corolla so I have friends sitting in the back seat all the time. I'm 6'3 and I sat in the back once; i wasn't 100% comfy but for a 30 minute drive I wasn't complaining at all!

Hey Scotty love the channel. Here’s a good one for the crowd. I bought a Nissan Quest minivan from Let’s just call it CarMax, after about 6 months of driving my wife was complaining of the front end shaking real bad when braking. Could not be aligned by our mechanic who said the lower control arms on both sides were shot. Around this same time I had been noticing the paint flaking really bad on not only the front but the rear end as well. Just a coincidence or not remains to be seen. Carmax claims there was cosmetic damage when they got the van but the vehicle had not been a wreck per say, because there is no car fax report. Well Carmax took care of all the repairs, supposedly all new control arms, tie rods and ends. Also they took care of repainting the bad spots. Amazingly they did not even charge us our deductible from our extended warranty. Well the van still shakes I’ve put 2 sets of rotors and brakes all the way around 2 times in the last year. I have gotten into a little verbal disagreement with said company because I have accused them of selling us a wrecked vehicle. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated, I really don’t know what I can do to find out if the vehicle had been wrecked and fixed without reporting. Thanks Scotty, you the man
