Not only is this car good looking, it is the first time I have ever truly enjoyed watching a review of an every day family car. They are usually boring & not very fun to watch. Chevy needs to get that guy out there more & have more chief engineers like him. He is very personable & you can tell he truly wanted to build a great car & deliver a great product. Great video guys

Honestly, that GM engineer is amazing. I know he doesn't look it at first glance, but there's a guy who's charming, passionate about his work and extremely enthusiastic. and very knowledgeable. When you spend time with a guy like that it makes all those other clips with car marketing folks seem so empty. Nice work GM. He's a keeper! He made the review fun.

I'm glad to see an engineer that is so well spoken and knowledgeable about his product line. I had been a GM guy but lately I've had Volvos and Toyotas, as time goes on I've been more drawn to GM but I find it that the Buicks and Cadillacs are too gaudy and they don't hit the value proposition very well when you spec them out. I've had several Chevy rental cars recently and I can see the improvements that have been made but the Chevy brand isn't very aspirational and with Buick targeting Infinity's demographic plus older folks, there's not much in GMs line that appeals to younger engineers. I'm really hoping that Buick will become less like Infinity and more like Volvo, Acura, and Lexus.
@ZeroGorDIE
@ZeroGorDIE 8 жыл бұрын
+glsracer I'm a little confused, in what regard is buick like infinity? and how is it not trying to be Acura and Volvo?
@glsracer
@glsracer 8 жыл бұрын
ZeroGorDIE sure, looking at the design language, GM has gone with a more bulbous design with large swooping curves and crome accents. This includes non-functional and general distasteful faux chrome hood or front side fender louvers. This design language has been a staple of Infinity design for some time. Volvo, Acura, and Lexus generally focus on crisp lines and svelt shapes (with exception given to Lexus spindle grills of late). With regard to demographics, Infinity has targeted affluent minorities for some time as a bid to move them from Nissan products into higher level products as their wealth increases. When Buick was reborn they started heavily targeting the same demographics. Lately I have noted a shift in their marketing, but until they tone down the curves and excessive amounts of chrome, I doubt they will appeal to Volvo, Acura, Lexus, or Audi buyers, though they could definitely find cross over from BMW, Mercedes, and Infinity.

Please.... pleeeease chevy make a car thats affordable, good looking, comfortable and above all - make a car that just works. Not for a few years, not for 50k miles or only within the warranty - but something that stretches out to the hundreds of thousands. I want to be a chevy guy, but I hear too much negativity. I'll wait to see what happens with this new lineup, but I'm really really hopping we can start relating "reliable" with chevy again.

+Jonathan A That's bs, I've owned primarily GM cars and trucks over the last 20 years and have put well over 200,000 miles or more on them with no issues other than normal routine preventive maintenance. My daughters 2007 Camry LE had its wheel bearings go bad before 50,000 miles along with engine sludge issues.
@rlhmarines
@rlhmarines 9 жыл бұрын
+Jonathan A I'm still on my original wheel bearings and shocks on my '01 Tahoe and it has 20" aftermarket wheels on since new in 2001, no problems with 256,000 miles. Toyota had an issue with engine sludge with 4 cylinder cars, look it up. You can have your own opinion but not facts.
@rlhmarines
@rlhmarines 9 жыл бұрын
+Jonathan A So you agree after all that Toyota did have an issue with sludge, just as I said in the beginning. Bashing is making false claims and baseless claims of inferiority, something that I never do. I present you with first hand real world account of an issue and not a second or third person account told to by a friend, neighbor or relative of someone.

Wow the guys seems gteat ,very enthusiastic about the cat . Usually cant get through a interview with engineering guys in it . I am actually thinking about looking at a malibu ,i drove a rental previous mkdel and was very impressed with it . I fell for all the bad reviews and though it was going to be a poor car it was fantastic for the week. The new one seems even better and with midsize cars sale being loor thinking you may be able to get a good deal on one .
@ponchoman49
@ponchoman49 9 жыл бұрын
It's overall improved but as per usual GM penny pinching several nice features on the previous model were left behind on the new one. Examples being the very handy storage behind the touch screen. Why was that omitted for the tacked on new version? Why did they stick a block out panel on the storage tray to the left of the steering wheel? Why did they omit the overhead sun glasses holder? Why did the volume base engine lose 36 hp from the 2013-2015 car? Yes it lost some weight but you would think dropping 300 LBS and going to such a dinky engine that highway mileage would have improved more than ONE MPG The packaging also sucks with this car. For instance you must move all the way to the top model just to get a leather wrapped wheel and a visible exhaust. Another major annoyance is the over sized 19" tires on this small and light of a vehicle. You are forced into these monster tires as std fare on both the Premier and the 2LT which means all 2 liter turbo cars. Worse the weird looking alloy wheels on the 2LT look as if something is missing and a kid designed them. Finally in my personal view the front of this car looks homely!

Sorry, but fuck the 'teen driver' thing. It's exactly like the ford mykey - which has been around for like 10 years. I bought a used rental car (2012 taurus) that only came with one key, because somebody lost the other one. Mykey was active on that key, and in order to disable it you need an admin key, or to pay a ford stealership $200+ to disable it. I've rented other fords after that and mykey was not active, so the rental company didn't activate it - somebody that rented it did to be an asshole. As far as I know, you can activate all the keys are 'mykeys' if you wanted to, and then somebody would have to pay a stealership a lot of money to get them changed back to admin keys. Oh and.. did you forget the comparison video? I thought that was up next.. :p

this technology has gone too far now, you shouldnt need lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, tire pressure monitor system, crash avoidance system, and the whole no radio without seat belts on as well as the babysit your kids driving thing with speed limiters, rev limiters, no "safety" features being able to be turned off is all absolutely stupid

+Mike Utoober So..safety technology to make things easier and safer is wrong? Not being able to turn it off is only if the parents don't want their teen drivers to get themselves killed. Teen drivers are usually bad drivers and make stupid decisions, there are no downsides to any of the technology you just listed.

Mike Utoober The point is that teens do and no one is a perfect driver, you're lying to yourself if you do. Safety features only help prevent accidents. Yes drivers shouldn't rely on those features, but most people don't.

Why, oh why won't Chev/GM put head rests in all seating postions in their vehicles......just a stupid lack of safety on their part. We formerly drove a Yukon xl and now Cadillac Escalade ESV ( don't even get me started on the fixed headrests in the 2nd row) . Now that my kids are coming out of carseats/boosters with built in head restraints, we are looking at other vehicles that are more passenger safety concious. Nice vehicles otherwise.
