@@Master-uv7ne Honestly, the only major thing that has happened is the butterfly valves went bad (fairly common problem) and I had to get them repaired, other than that it has been pretty solid. I added a 2-inch lift and am going to put in 4.9 diffs with the rear Hybrid LSD. Those two improvements along with my 33 inch tires will make it even more fun to drive in the Minnesota snow!😉👍

I LOVE MY 2003 Montero / Pajero . I bought it with 138k miles on it for $4900 US almost 5 years ago and it has given me so many fun memories. I've done some routine maintenance the Timing belt, spark plugs, water pump, new battery, routine oil changes every 5k miles, and am just about to finally replace the whole suspension to include new shocks/struts, front upper and lower control arms, inner and outer Tie Rods, and the front hub bearings. Should ride like a dream after this. At just over 201,000 miles the AC still blows cold here on super hot Hawaii days, motor still pulls great, no leaks "that I can tell" a little rust here and there but flex seal and Rustolium took care of that. I'm moving to Colorado in March and I can't wait to see the trips the old gal takes me on. Shipping to LA and will be doing about a 2500 mile trip covering Monterey, San Fran, Napa/Sonoma, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Moab area and then finally heading to Colorado. I love the seating position, and the seats are super comfy on long drives, longest was 8-9 Hours from Pittsburgh, to North Carolina, and North Carolina to Orlando FL. I REALLY REALLY wish Mitsubishi would entertain the idea of brining back the Montero to the US after they stopped in 2006, or they would allow the Import of 2017-19 Pajero's. It's literally the same car just some updates here and there. I think there is a market now and would be a budget friendly option for a 7 seater off road capable truck that would be around that 40-50k mark or even less. Hope to at least see 300k with the truck and will drive it until it disintegrates.

And yes in the Isuzu stuff, I'd love to find a nice trooper or their other off-road capable SUV. If course it'd be late 90's to early 2000's for what I want but also what I can afford anyway..

That was a good video, I appreciate the commentary about the vehicle and the off-road culture. The Pajeros come in, small, medium, and large; although the Jr is only a Pajero in name. I had the medium sized two door Pajero when I was stationed in Japan. No desert running, but lots of very narrow mountain trails and snow bashing to the ski resorts. Never gave me a problem in 5 years, and the 4x4 was competent with the center locker engaged.

There good cars. I grew up in a 1991, 1995 and 2001 Mitsubishi Montero. All of them made it easily over 200k miles. But the automatic transmission is it weakest link!!! The 91 was a stick. The 95 started slipping around 220k miles. And the 01 started slipping around 180k miles. My mom was nice to them. She just drove a lot for work.

@OS-hx4jk
@OS-hx4jk 3 жыл бұрын
Hello there, and thanks. Most of the time, I use 4hLc. I've found that there is more control with the manual option. Put it in manual, and keep it between 1st and 2nd when in 4hlc. When you need low end torque, move to 4LC, and first gear in manual. With the Pajero, you have the advantage of the manual without the drawback of a clutch when offroad. As for 200k service, i changed the timing belt for the second time, and the pulley. When changing the ATF fluid at 225k, the guy said the diff oil was fine, so i didn't do anything to the diffs. Recently, i put Yokohama Geolandars ATs on it and the difference is significant offroad.

I have a Pajero 4 3.8L in Dubai and when stock it's not that good for dune bashing. For a cheaper price in the UAE you can have a X-Terra 4.0L that make a better job when stock. But when modded with basic stuff like better tyres, better suspension,etc,etc... then the Pajero transform itself into a Land-cruiser and Patrol killer. So, good car overall but not directly ready for good off-roading session. In the UAE the Pajero is extremely popular and mostly uses for daily usage. So much that for the UAE market they removed the differential lock on the 3.5L version (the most sold) 😅

They need to bring back the Pajero to the US. Awesome review of what the world has that the US lost.

Thanks bro. I saw a few 2005s and 2006 Monteros on a visit to the US a few years ago. But, very few remain with low miles.
