Don't forget the ever-present restriction from the EPA for fuel mileage requirements. The Mfr's still have to get the best mpg possible on a stock vehicle, no matter what kind it is. Toyota knows most buyers of this will change the tires quickly anyway.

TFL is easily the best review channel we have by such a huge margin. The trails that they drive these trucks on are so unbelievably difficult when you consider that the vehicles a loaner trucks from the manufacturers that are loaned out to them for review. Obviously they could take them out and thrash them through unrealistic trails and try to give them back with tons of damage but this wouldn’t represent the things that people want to do with their brand new $40k-$100k trucks. It’s so lucky that we have a honest review channel that have dedicated their lives to giving us high quality honest reviews that test the ability of the vehicles to 200% of what almost everyone is going to do with their trucks. So lame yo hate on them when they put so much effort and time off their lives to make these videos for you. If you think you can do a better job then please go ahead and spend your life and money making reviews for us, we’d love to see them. Be honest with yourself if you want to do more extreme trails you’re going to buy a $1k-$10k truck that you can beat the hell out of and modify to a level that makes it useless for anything else. They do so much to give us the best reviews possible and you do absolutely nothing besides benefit from their hard work and you want to hate on them while doing nothing.
@kylekdk456
@kylekdk456 3 жыл бұрын
Philip Arthurs the truth is that they’re better drivers than 99.999% of everyone else and push these trucks way harder than is reasonable for a loaned truck for a real world review that people are genuinely curious about. Buy a beater if you want to do more than this, by the way I’ve done every single one of the hardest trails in existence in arizona in my 2006 f150 4x4 with a leveling kit and 35” BFG All Terrain tires. I’m sure that many people are better at driving than me but I can do any trail that exists so that pretty irrelevant.

Same with the 4Runner. It's just silly the amount of work you need to do on these Toyotas to fit a bigger tire. Then, if you lift it 3in, you now have no down travel left because you're basically driving around at full droop all the time. Where as you can increase wheel travel on a solid-axle rig such as a Gladiator or Wrangler much easier. And TFl is running 35s on that gladiator, but realistically they could probably fit a 37 on it as it sits, maybe with just a little plastic trimming. I don't know about on a Tacoma, but on a 4Runner 37's involves hacking apart the front body mount, and reworking the firewall.

Just want to appreciate the camera operator(s) and editor(s) for all their hard work in these videos. They’re always really well produced. It’s little things that really make these videos stand out-such as at 3:46, the music is muffled as the camera is underwater. Great content in both material and production.

Really love that y’all haven’t done a huge lift and massive tires on the Jeep. You’ve done “mild” mods to it that make it still great as a daily but really show off what it can do with very easily attainable mods for someone on a slight budget/wanting a factory lift. I’m a Toyota guy through and through, but y’all have really shown that the Gladiator’s length isn’t as big a deal as it’s been made out to be.

Never understood why Toyota gave the same tires to the TRD Off Road and the TRD Pro. It isn't like the Raptor and the FX4 F150 have the same tires. There's a clear difference between the two. The TRD Off Road, on the other hand, is 99% the same truck as the TRD Pro, in terms of equipment.

Every time I watch one these offroad videos Tommy is going off like articulation is the end all be all. The Military actually has a test parameter involving articulation. It's a VCI score. It measure the amount of traction wheels maintain while articulating. The problem with solid front axles is that they actually loose traction as they articulate. So the moral is it doesnt matter how much you can articulate if you cant maintain traction.

People in the comments really need to stop about the tires, it is not realistic for TFL to receive a loaner truck and swap tires for every video just to put back on the factory ones to give it back to them. If you guys really want to complain you should complain that Toyota is the only company selling their top tier offroad truck with extremely subpar tires. Jeep gives you optional BFG A/T or M/T from the factory, the Zr2 gives you duratracs, Raptor gives you BFGs, the new bronco gives you optional 35's from the factory. Even the Trail bosses give you duratracs. Stop complaining that TFL won't swap out tires when it's literally only Toyota that refuses to put at least a serviceable tire on their trucks.
