I don’t know about budget. H3t alpha 09/10 are still quite expensive. 25k-30k from what I’ve seen, for the lower mileage ones >70k miles. Maybe for a regular h3, but definitely not a h3t alpha. I wanted one of these, but cuss they were so expensive, I just bit the bullet and bought a gladiator rubicon, or l else I would’ve bought one of these.

I'm not a GM guy by any means but my soon to be ex wife and I were on vacation to Gatlinburg, TN a few years ago when we stumbled across a black on black 2009 H3T Alpha at a Cadillac dealership that was also right next to a abandoned Hummer dealership that still had their test course up. The salesman not only let us test drive it but also take it through the course and...to be honest I've driven Jeep's (had an 04 Grand Cherokee Overland Limited with the amazing Quadradrive system), Ford's, Dodges and various Toyotas and that H3T gave me confidence like no other vehicle does on a trail. Once I can find one after my divorce concludes in a month that's under 21k, I will be trading in because these are just amazing trucks.

A rare piece to say the least. The problem is the platform has no aftermarket support and zero factory parts exists. You’d be hard pressed to find a body panel much less a door handle when it fall off and it will, since it’s a quality GM product. The upside is it’s downside, it’s a GM. AAM axels, LS based engine, 4L60 trans and the NV transfer case. All parts easily found in any half ton Silverado or SUV of he day. Cool truck for sure.

I had a 2008 Dodge Dakota with the 4.7 V8. It was pretty heavy for a midsize truck, so that engine didn't have the zip I would have hoped for. Terrible gas mileage too, I lived in Birmingham for three years and got around 12 mpg on all of those hills, and even extended highway driving it would never get above 19 mpg. Most full size trucks get better mileage now.

Speaking of V8 midsizes and rumors of it coming back (probably without the V8 sadly) I'd love to see one of these style videos on a dakota with a 360 or 4.7. I know there was an old video taking a 3ed gen up gold mine but it wasn't very in depth. Maybe an older/used mid-size shootout between the Kota, an s10, Colorado, old ranger, and old tacomas. Power trains, interior/cargo capacity, handling/off roading and price.
