The Mona Lisa being on canvas and not wood was most likely an oversight by the prop department. Probably a lot easier to get a replica that looks like the real thing made on canvas than it is on wood. That said, I do love the idea that it was the Louvre owners pulling a fast one on Miles and giving him an over priced replica from the gift shop.
@aureateseigneur5317 Жыл бұрын
I would agree if they hadn't been so spot on about misplacing the other paintings.. The one in the bathroom, and the one that's upside down. They are making clear statements that Miles knows fuck all about Art and only cares for the prestige it brings him. He doesn't care the Mona Lisa was burned he cares his name will be associated with its burning because he doesn't care about art.
@maniac7770 Жыл бұрын
While I know it doesn't count, I believe there was a cut or deleted scene of Blanc contacting the Louvre about the presence of the Mona Lisa, only for it to reveal that the real one was exactly where it should be, in France.

Also on the sin where Andi says “that was some real red pill stuff Miles” wasn’t Andi referencing the Matrix, it was Andi referencing real incels who have misappropriated “red pill” from the matrix to refer to other stuff. I actually want the Mona Lisa to be real because it cuts to the heart of the movie- the tragedy isn't the real Mona Lisa being destroyed, it's the needless death of a brilliant, dynamic, good woman like Andi due to nothing more than Miles' greed and ego. He will never be brought to justice for killing Andi and, even if he were, the loss of her life and everything she could have accomplished and the pain her death caused her family would be barely a blip on the public consciousness. Probably relegated to occasional episodes of various true crime podcasts that would inevitably focus more on Miles than on her. But by being responsible for the destruction of the Mona Lisa, Miles will get dragged through the mud in a very public way for destroying something that's viewed as being precious in the way Andi's life *should* have been.
@selonianth Жыл бұрын
I mean, while it is still hearsay and *probably* doesn't get him actually arrested and jailed (at least, not by itself... but I kinda doubt he actually left no evidence at the scene) all the other people all very much implied they were going to ensure he burned.
@carolyngrant7454 ай бұрын
Yes! This exactly! That's why I like to believe it's the real Mona Lisa too. I can appreciate that it was Helen's only way of stopping Miles, and that she chose to act against him (and potentially save human lives) over reverring the Mona Lisa. I think a lot of people's reaction was "Oh my god, I can't believe she's going to burn the Mona Lisa just to get revenge on Miles!" But it's not revenge, it's a way to both hold him accountable and stop him in the future. At that point in the film, Miles had already killed 2 people that were supposed to be his friends, and he clearly doesn't feel that bad about either death. He's perjured himself in court, and he has very little regard for safety or human lives, as we see throughout the film. Blanc admits that they have no evidence to hold Miles accountable in a court of law. The police will be little to no help, especially with the Disruptors covering for Miles. Miles is not going to be held responsible for Andi or Duke's deaths. But by burning the Mona Lisa, Helen has prevented Miles from using Klear and ruined his reputation.

I do enjoy how the Mona Lisa burning is a bit of a Catch-22 for Miles. Either it was real, and he gets reamed for being an idiot for letting a priceless work of art be destroyed like that, or it's fake, which means the Louvre didn't trust him because he's an idiot. It's a wonderful lose-lose!

Imagine a “sin” being the fact that movies are rewindable, allowing you to go back and see the clever twist you missed the first time before you actually find out it was a twist (even though you never would until your second watch-through). Like, the ultimate hallmark of a great movie with a twist is the ability to rewatch it and see it coming, making you feel duped like the other characters and impressed by the attention to detail and great con the director pulled off. And Jeremy claims to be a huge movie fan, and a fan of clever movies just like that moment was. There are cheesy parts of a movie, but that was CLEVER! That’s like saying “this escape room lets me out when I pull the fire alarm, so they’ve given me the fastest solution possible, so they’re a bad escape room because I can just… get out by faking an emergency.”

Knives out and it's sequel have been two of the only mystery movies I've enjoyed lately. Instead of telling all in the first ten minutes or being so dramatic that it's clear who's involved immediately it actually leads you in an over the top (in a good way) mystery that keeps you guessing. Even with Knives out saying what happened early enough on, it takes to the last minutes to really understand what ACTUALLY happened and I love it.

I think my personal least favorite part of CinemaSins' video is that Jeremy obviously gave away that Andi was Helen in one of the first sins, making it clear he's already seen the movie and that this video will cover spoilers, only to act like Helen is Andi for sins that he makes up about her even if he knows the answers or reasons, which he continues to demonstrate throughout the video.
@pm-5565 Жыл бұрын
I wasn't planning on pointing anything out because in this case I could for pretty much every single sin but I have to on this one, as a big fan of crime mystery. The fact that we are not shown in the scene that Duke says "Andi" is most likely intentional and it's a very basic form of misdirection, if you listen carefully you can hear Duke does say something but it's unintelligible because we are hearing it as if we were where the POV is (duhh) so Miles being closer makes his voice overpower Duke's. Benoit thinks nothing of it at the time because Duke plays along with it but later when he's putting the pieces together and recalls the scene it's because he probably did think he heard Duke say "Andi" but he could not be sure but given the context from his discoveries later on he realizes that he must have said her name because it adds up. And the movie does this kind of misdirection in different ways throughout the film and even has Benoit explain that Miles was making them recall what he wanted them to recall by saying that Duke got duked by pineapple because he picked up the wrong glass when in reality Miles had handed the glass to Duke, it's a similar type of misdirection where the movie is trying to mislead both the detective and the audience with the main difference between those two being that Benoit is not mislead by this 2nd one because he accurately remembers seeing how the glass was handed to and not picked up. One other thing I'll point out which I personally think it is also done intentionally and I would have expected it to be sinned (and it might have been on the original vid and it didn't make it on this one, I'm not bothered to check so I'll do a Jeremy and just stupidly assume I have that information correct). Right after the lights go out and Miles runs away and is one of the hallways that is poorly lit and hears someone then starts running back in the other direction, when he turns around you can see for a single frame that the gun that was supposedly missing is in his hand. That kinda did kill that particular twist for me tho I had already predicted that Miles was the culprit of Duke's death but I spotted the gun in that scene. Still didn't see the twin sister plot coming so it didn't ruin much other than a fairly predictable twist which is why I think it was left there intentionally for astute viewers (or people like me that caught it by pure fluke). I shouldn't have expected Jeremy or anyone on his team to catch that tho, mea culpa.
@alexschofield8085 Жыл бұрын
Seeing that Miles had the gun was absolutely intentional! When Duke shows Miles the news about Andi’s death and starts talking about alpha news or whatever, you can just see Miles shoving the gun into the back of his jeans and you can even see how it misshapes his jeans and shirt when he walks away AND you can see him place it at the drinks station when he makes “his” drink (the one he gives to Duke). You just don’t really notice it because it goes by so fast and you’re not thinking about the gun until it gets pointed out that it’s missing

Thank you for calling out Jeremy's irritating habit of answering his own question but somehow finding that not sufficient. "I know (insert plausible explanation here) BUT ... " No, stop already.

The movie that reminded us why we were at all excited in the first place about Rian Johnson making a Star Wars movie
@ajohndaeal-asad6731 Жыл бұрын
Yes. Rian Johnson is a good director it’s just he didn’t take any regard for the pre established lore and with studio execs at helm there wasn’t a cohesive vision for the sequel trilogy. That what made the last jedi piss poor. But knives out and glass onion are top tier movies
@MamadNobari Жыл бұрын
Nah, that was Knives Out, this is another Last Jedi where he is more focused on making a statement about rich people I guess instead of making an actually good movie.

@@ajohndaeal-asad6731 I actually think TLJ is the best of the 3 because its the only one with any balls at all.

@@MamadNobari Except he made a great movie while also making a statement about rich people.

I'd bet money Jeremy couldn't follow an episode of Columbo.
