TH400 Leaking Almost Everywhere Lets Fix It

This TH400 Transmission in my 1972 Chevy Suburban is leaking from almost every part that it can leak from. I will sow you some tips and tricks I have learned for fixing some of the most common TH400 leaks. Please drop a comment below and tell me what you think of this video.

What is that part opposite side of the modulator? Mine is leaking, trans shifts hard in reverse

Yep That selector shaft seal is a common problem. and you really need that tool to replace it, but if you have a damaged selector shaft like mine, your gonna have to drop the transmission pan.

Yes, 4l80 is the 4 speed version of this transmission

@DJsHotRodFab can you explain to me all the different vacuum modulator they offer for the 3 speed. The one red stripe, two red stripes, black and red stripes. Mine is dripping. Was going to replace it but I don't want to get the wrong one. My truck is an 89 r3500 converted to carbureted. Thanks. The one one the truck has no stripes. Lol. And I don't know my ratio

@@MrBmxbrawler oh I see what your saying. Ya if there isn't anything wrong with it I would just do the O-Ring. I don't know the differences in the modulators. I know back when I was a transmission R&R guy we would just replace them with adjustable ones. If your gonna replace it you could just get an adjustable modulator

22 minutes and not one talk about using silicone rtv on the gasket should i use it or not and if you need to use silicone how to apply it so the video is very very uninformational.

@@Aaron-hd8ql that's because you never use silicone or RTV on these. It will just cause the gasket to be pushed out. Make sure both surfaces are clean and dry when you install the pan. Also be gentle when tightening the pan bolts. Tighten them up evenly if the gasket starts to squish out you have tightened too much. Also there are a few different types of gasket material they use and that can make a difference as well.
