Omg ok so I grew up with this game, have put in probably several hundred hours over my lifetime, and I can shed light on quite a number of the things presented in this video. First off, the secret characters are absolutely real, and unlocking Ichiro and War Mech is actually very easy, you just have to make a circle with the C buttons on the intro screen. To unlock Grendal, you just have to make it past The Executioner and you can access him by highlighting The Executioner on the character select screen and holding down start. As for unlocking Pojo, the chicken that Taria transforms you into as part of her execution, I don't remember off the top of my head tbh. Frankly not worth it anyways except for the novelty. This game was indeed fairly popular as an arcade game, I remember seeing it in a cabinet at my local bowling alley growing up. And as an arcade game, it does not make full use of the N64 controller. A and B do the same thing (quick), C left and C down do the same thing (strong), and C up and C right do the same thing (kick). Every single character has a special attack that's activated by hitting both quick and strong at the same time, which is a fairly easy button combination to press, and most characters’ quick/strong are quite good as go-to attacks. You can do some real damage by just spamming that attack with most characters. It seems like you figured this out at some point during your playthrough, but you can block attacks by just moving backwards. It's extremely valuable. I very highly recommend playing as Ragnar, he is an excellent combination of strength and speed, as you can plainly tell by how well the AI plays him. His bull rush attack is easy to execute and very powerful. Personally though, Xiao Long was always my favorite to play, his speed is incredibly valuable against slower but more powerful characters like Lord Deimos. However, the way my siblings and I first beat Asmodeus was by using War Mech, and spamming his quick/strong until the timer ran out. We didn't manage this until years after we got the game, which just goes to show how incredibly difficult of a game it is. However, I did go on to be able to actually kill Asmodeus, and with a variety of characters at that (I remember for sure Xiao Long, Takeshi, and Ragnar, but probably also Grendal as I recall playing him for a while). Personally, I would have given you a pass for setting the difficulty to easy on this one lmao. Spoiler alert: if you have a second controller attached to your console, you are not actually capped by credits. If you hit start on the second controller during a single player game, it becomes a two-player game, and you can do so after you die but before your credits are decremented to cheat extra credits into a run, and then whoever wins the two-player game gets to continue the run where you left it off.

I beat my head against the wall with this game for ages when I was a kid, but honestly kinda digged it. I have a curious story bout this one tho, something strange happened that I've never heard anyone else ever experiencing. Me and a friend would play this game a lot, trying our damndest to beat it, but stood little to no chance. We got to Grendal, maybe even Asmodeus once or twice, but that was as far as we could ever get, until one day we just didn't get booted back to the titlescreen upon running out of continues😮 We could just keep on trying as long as we wanted, and eventually after an eternity of begging to higher powers that this glitch or bug or accidentally input cheat code would not just suddenly stop working, we finally beat the game! It was amazing! Later tho, we did realize the trick where you could have a second controller hooked up and start a versusfight by pressing start on the second controller to essentially save a doomed fight, not wasting a continue. This trick is worth its weight in gold btw, but what really confuses me is that I have never ever heard of anyone experiencing a infinite continues glitch in this game. I was very surprised to find out that there seemingly is no cheat code to activate this either, so its looking more and more likely that it was just a fringe glitch of some kind. Makes me think of the warp in SM64 that is currently only explained by a rouge hydrogen atom from a solar flare striking the console or whatever craziness they seem to think that was caused by😂 Anyways, awesome video and good fkn job! Love to see this game getting some attention😊

Fighting games are all similar in that they have certain inputs like quarter circle + button for special moves that are universal, this is for 2d fighters mostly but some 3d fighting games have them, in 3d fighters it's more of a direction + attack button or a sequence of directions/buttons, there are also fighter archetypes zoner, rush down etc.. Learning the archetype and how to use it, the special moves and a couple of combos will get you through most fighting games on normal.
