I must take a look at your abacus. I forget which words have what tones. I can read most words but I don't understand what I'm reading. I learned from a book when I was in jail and had no one to converse with or how anything sounded. It's good for me as a male to here a male voice also. Thanks bro.

I've set the abacus up so you can hide the numerals as well so you can test your recall. To get the tones, practice typing the actual Thai words in the tone assist tool and if you get the spelling right, the right tone will appear

I can see that the Thai numbers from 1 to 10 almost sound the same as those in 壯語, the language spoken in Guangxi province by the Zhuang people. It is said that Zhuang and Thai are closely related in terms of grammar and lexicon, which means they're mutually intelligible when it comes to basic conversation. Same similarities can also be found in many southern Chinese dialects like Cantonese, Hakka and Hokkien and even in Korean and Japanese. As a Korean living in Guangzhou for the last 25 years, I found out it's easy to follow the basic principles of Thai, mainly because I speak Japanese, Mandarin, the local southern dialects and some Vietnamese too. Learning tonal languages is really fascinating. I've been trying to teach myself Thai for the last couple of months, which was rather an easy job, but with the exception of the writing system. The tone Sandhi is also very confusing in relation with the high, middle and low consonants. I'm anxious to know if there's any logical explanation for this, if so, I'd highly appreciate your guidance for that.

I think you would have fun playing with the tools I've built there at crackinglanguage.com ... I've included Hangul, old Chinese and Mandarin in the consonant compass, and then also have over 300 Tai/ Zhuang/ Cantonese / Vietnamese / Chinese languages anf dialects tones mapped so you can see how theybshift

Hi, how do I access your abacus that you are using here and also the tool you use in another video for tones, vowels etc and are they free? Cheers J

just open the site crackinglanguage.com and click on abacus on the left side menu. if you're on mobile you might need to click the button top left to toggle the menu open and closed

Some of the numbers sound exactly like Cantonese, 3,4,6,7,8,9,10.
