if you're indian - it's easy to remember the names of these tones. In hindi the numbers are "ek", "do (dho)", "theen"..I guess all indo-aryan language speakers will find it easy "dho is like two, tri is like three"). Also, the number's kind of resemble 1,2,3 (like 3 fallen horizontally by -90 degrees)

They kind of remind me of the 5 Chinese tones: Thai flat tone = More like the 5th tone/neutral tone. Thai low tone = Chinese 4th tone but less intense Thai falling = No direct Chinese counterpart Thai high = Chinese 2nd tone. Thai rising = Chinese 3rd tone but on a higher scale.

In Greek, we have five (5) tones too. • flat tone/absence of tone [τι, ἐν, εἰς, ὡς] • grave accent [τὶς, τοὺς, τὸν] • accute accent [τί, τάξις, ἕως, ἔλα] • circumflex [τῶν, τοῦ, τῷ, τῇ] • inverted circumflex [‹Ποῦ;›, ‹Πῶς;›]
Ainda não consigo sem usar a mão. Hahahahaha. Ou imaginar isso na minha mente.

What is the difference between ไ / ใ they sound the same
@JamesColemanChess21 күн бұрын
There’s no difference at all in spoken Thai and they make the same sound. There’s only a difference in written Thai, the second one, sara ai mai muan is only used in 20 words, so once you learn those 20 exceptions every other word you come across will be using the first one.

Is there a difference in tone pronunciation if the same syllable is long or short? like เขา and ขาว
@sorawichice Жыл бұрын
เขา is pronounced as ข + ะ + ว (short sound) ขาว is pronounced as ข + า + ว (long sound) both are 5th tone (จัตวา , ๋ ) The rule is rather complicated. May be should use Tonal Table for learn.

How to remember the tones of every Thai word?
@IgetThais2 жыл бұрын
I can’t remember all the tonalities of words. But I know how to conjugate tones so it helps me to know the tonal of words. Thai language has rules about tones, it will help you to understand Thai tones.

Good teacher, krab. But this is confusing from a gestures point of view. Your hand gesture for Mai Ek is 'falling' but you label it as 'low'. For clarity I fell it should be represented as 'start high' and 'falls'. By the same token, Mai Tho I would submit is low-then-rising-then-falling. Your label mark is just falling, inconsistent with your diagram of a parabola, rising then falling. The example for Mai Jatawaa is good, speaking tone, hand gesture and diagram are consistent. I'm Thai heritage, but US born. I can speak and understand but working on my reading/writing. Just feedback. The tones are not hard, and you do a good job of explaining but your gestures/diagrams can be confusing. Love your channel.
