The only reason is, it is cheaper and easier to get into, as long as you have all the requirements, you’re set. In countries like the US, there’s a lot of barriers, expensive tuition fees and it is very competitive to get into. You will need tons of requirements and you should be one of the best in order for a med school to accept you. Meanning they will also check if you take AB calc, chem during hs and have good grades. Not to mention all the shadowing you need to have as a requirement as well. There’s just so much requirements on top of a very expensive tuition fee, though student loan is there but the amount you will need to borrow will be huge.

English proficiency. cheaper tuition. asian culture like thai.. and quality education on medical field. why do employers specially in US prefer Filipinos... English proficiency.. skills. work ethic. culture.
@BluishHuntress5 ай бұрын
Because Philippine med school is patterned to the American med school curriculum. The books used in Philippine med schools are from American authors and the medium of instruction is English. More likely than not, the main goal of some of the foreign medical students in the Philippines is to be an IMG Physician in the US. Philippine med schools are expensive (esp. for us Filipinos), but it is still way cheaper and easier to get into compared to the US.
@BluishHuntress5 ай бұрын
I would also add that being an IMG Physician makes it hard to get into a lucrative medical residency such as Surgery. Not to mention, USMLE (US Physician Board Exam) is very expensive and lengthy as it could take years to pass all steps. That's why more Filipino Doctors who wish to work in the US would opt to become a Nurse or Medical Laboratory Scientists instead.

MBBS curriculum is shorter than MD Curriculum since the latter has prerequisite degree prior to taking nmat some students has longer pre med courses like dentistry, optometry, veterinary med, engineering, physical and occupational therapy.

She is only graduate of nursing i think thats why she didnt know how many years you need to study to become a doctor in Philippines. First you need to take Pre medicine for 4 years after Pre medicine you need to get another 4 years for medicine then intern for 1 year to total 9 years for you to become a doctor in Philippines.
