I don't think you have been negative Peter, just honest. I think a lot of guys (myself included) would love to come for a month, but the chance of getting stuck for 2 weeks in a hotel room, or worse the hospital is just too much of a gamble when you really only have so much time you can take off work for the trip. Not all of us are retired yet. I am a long ways off at 41, so I will have to wait until next season. Anyways, safe travels!

One of the worst things about Thailand is, not being able to get there. :) I used to have a pattaya taxi company pick me up at the airport and they would have a 6 pack of Singha on ice for me for the drive to pattaya. Ahh good times.

Hi Peter. That’s a great title for this video. Real clickbait! But seriously, you are correct: The worst thing about any stay in Thailand is when it comes time for the dreaded ride to the airport. Why? Because you realize it is time to leave that beautiful country and your fun has ended. I can remember the first time that happened to me was 1975. The Vietnam War had ended and they closed my air base in Udorn. Don’t get me wrong. I was glad the damn war ended. But depressed that my one year in Thailand had ended. I had tears in my eyes as my plane lifted off the runway. I still have tears at the end of every visit to Thailand.

Hi Peter, some true , relatable final words from Thailand. That’s so true of what the taxi drivers ask you when you arrive into Thailand : "where you from, how long you stay, do you have girlfriend in Thailand and do you want to meet girl? " even more so when you are catching tuk-tuks or taxis when getting around Bangkok. After my second time to Thailand, I just catch the skytrain fro the airport to Makkasan & change over there for the Sukhumvit line all for about 120 Baht. Apple was such a nice and gregarious taxi driver, but didn’t want to talk about her past passengers. I too got food poisoning on my 2nd trip, when doing the riverboat cruise down the Chao Phraya river and eating lukewarm meat from the buffet...should of had a scotch to chase the food down . I remember having a nervous taxi ride at 5am to the airport hoping I wouldn’t have the urge to use the toilet all of a sudden...

Fortunately I live in Bangkok but whenever we go to Pattaya, just as we are coming in I often say the road in is full of happiness and excitement and the road out is full of heartbreak and sadness. Regarding your last comment about other videos saying they weren't asked for this or that. People need to bring with them whatever is on the official list of requirements. It won't do you any good standing in front of an immigration officer and saying you don't have it because Party Marty on KZbin said it wasn't needed.

Hope you had a safe flight Peter. A great video series you've shared with us on your trip. Respect again for being an example to all on what to do if abroad and you get a positive test : integrity is about doing what's right even when the authorities are not watching you. And YES, please everyone ensure that you have the right documents. I personally witnessed a middle-aged couple and their children being refused boarding as they had come with a self-test, and no paperwork from a lab for their test; and another young man being denied boarding as he had no test ( the airline woman was being proactive and asking all those waiting to board for their paperwork ahead of time at the gate, and when he didn't have his, she suggested that he run and try and get a test done ( this was 1 hour before boarding ) in the airport. Although expensive, it was probably doable, but he sauntered off and didn't seem too rushed to follow her advice. I didn't see him board/ disembark, so I guess he didn't bother to get the rapid test at the airport. And I guess the only reason you'd pass up your flight is if you knew you were positive, and just hoped they'd overlook your lack of paperwork.

There is a lounge at Suvanabhumi at G2 and you pay about 1200 Baht for 2 hours. Food, drink, shower WiFi is all inclusive of the price. I can highly recommend it but don’t go mad on the free drink.😏

Your Taxi Driver. A woman; working for a living but (it seems) not 'working' the bars. Obviously intelligent and a person of good values. Please do a vid on how we can meet such women of quality such has her, worth ten thousand of the others. It was just so lovely how she dealt with your drunk too much, insulting dismissive, over familiar demeanor and questions towards her. Would I pay for her Mother's/ Grandmother's broken leg? Truth be hold, speaking Thai really helps! So many Thais, even if they're highly educated often speak very little English unless they work in the Tourist industry or are teachers at an international school (maybe a few other jobs like a taxi driver). There is 95+ percent of Thai women who you'd never get to know without basic Thai language skills, simply because they're shy and can't communicate in English.

Peter the same story happened to me. Was there for 5 week trip, supposed to come back Jan 2. I was doing the self kits my last week and on Jan 1 tested positive. I didn't go to the hospital for fear of being taken to covid jail, so booked another week and self isiolated. Tested negative after 4 days but waited a few more days just to be sure. If it happened to both of us around the same time frame I am sure there were many others in the same boat

I enjoy your channel and I live in Bangkok full time and travel around the country quite often. Overall, I do like Thailand. However, and just my perspective, but the magic I associated with Thailand is no more. To me, it's now a masked up to your eyeballs/faceless society. I think many Thai's embrace that as well, at least here in Bangkok. Unfortunate. People in space suits testing you at the entrance to Soi Cowboy, people in elevators with their backs turned and masked faces buried in the corner, running in the park on steaming hot day with a mask and police enforcing it. That's the reality and there is no way I would come as a tourist at this point. Just my opinion.

I'm from the U.S....... and from a "red zone" - that is, a trump friendly area, and LOW VACCINE RATES...... and it's NOT SAFE. ** HERE - I feel safe compared to the U.S. The main reason is because people here are CONSIDERATE of others - UNLIKE in the U.S. where they are selfish, and stupid. Bangkok......... and Thailand is 10X safer than half of the U.S. ( ALL the red zones )

For me the worst part was getting here. That 16 day quarantine, cost and paperwork was hell. Took me 6 months to get here during the first stages of covid so ended up missing my sons birth. Met him when he was 4 months old. I guess it was worth it in the end though. Hope you made it home safe Peter.

well, I just got a dose of covid with my positive RT-PCR here in the Philippines--been in isolation at home for the past 8 days or so--waited on by my wife. Very mild symptoms--so you don't have to even go to Thailand to get sick--you could've stayed in England for all that. Cheers!

My Thai friend used to take me to the airport, but I've stopped that because it added to the feeling of leaving. The worst thing is the terrible smoking arrangements at the airport now - it's ridiculous - you have to scoot across two access roads . They should have put some outside areas airside like Singapore when they eliminated the smoking rooms. We look forward to seeing you back.
