About 2 years ago, I paid out of pocket for an mri of my thoracic spine(the upper back) and it only cost me around $600 in an urban area of California. In the hospital, they are stupid expensive, but a third party place that only does imaging is usually fairly cheap, and of the same quality as the hospital, and faster to get an appointment. You'll need a referral from your doctor though to get that going.

I feel the poor fox woman’s pain. I sadly developed rheumatoid arthritis at 30 and it developed in my shoulders, elbows, wrists and knees. Some days I can’t bend or lift my arms and the pain is constant. I struggle to cloth myself and do daily tasks. I hope for her recovery and that it gets better soon. Lord knows I know it’s rough to have your body be in pain and your movements restricted. So get better foxy and stop dying on us.

So as someone has who has dealt with a severe nerve pain in my leg, Capzasin cream helped with the nerve pain a lot. And my chiropractor swears by the stuff. Just be careful about how embedded it gets in your fingers and nails. It's too easy to pepper spray yourself. Not speaking from experience at all. edit: fixed some typos

Aww Kirsche, you need to get yourself to A&E or somewhere where they'll take your symptoms seriously. Having gone through sciatica when i was 18 I know how debilitating nerve pain is. Mine was in my hip and upper right thigh, and as a result I could not bend down at all. Please go get yourself seen by a specialist... Whatever you have sounds worse than what I went through, at least from what us honorable chatters could tell during stream.

I was having nerve problems recently, many extremely concerning feelings like numbness in shoulders, radiating pain in arms, nausea and gastric problems, heart palpitations when lying down, etc. and nobody could figure out why, it was just assumed I pinched a nerve, maybe vagus nerve, but my spine was perfectly aligned according to dr. I thought I was diabetic but tests said otherwise so *shrug*. The only thing that ended up working was eliminating sugar, coffee and alcohol from my diet for while. Idk why it worked… i narrowed it down by adding coffee and soda back to my diet, and symptoms returned, mildly at first with increasing intensity. For me, its mostly caffeine, but sugar and alcohol also cause that stuff. My guess is some kind of nerve damage due to inflammation interfering with a neck injury I got working out about a decade ago... but the nerve stuff only got bad on the last few months. I figure maybe it couldn’t hurt for you to try reducing caffeine since it worked for me. Something’s got to give… you may need to go on a hunt for a doctor who will listen to you, since these bozos you’re dealing with are good for nothing.

Reminds me of Dave Mustaine, who slept on a chair on his arm in a very unlucky position and had to go through a serious rehab for it and learn how to play guitar all over again. Definitely wouldn't want you to go through something similar (even without the guitar). I understand the hate for doctors, but I don't think you can just live on painkillers hoping this issue will go away. What if you try to find info about doctors with good reputation in that field in other towns (if yours is absolutely no good) and maybe make a trip? Obviously this sucks, but losing an arm after going through awful pain sucks even more.

Man it's but sucks and relatable to hear how the doctors are treating you. Never got care i needed for 14 years and still feeling some of the stuff and despite paying everything and following all advise they still said and acted like i wasn't complying and was even a drug addict. The kicker is didn't want pain meds or anything, i just wanted some antibiotics... Even going to emergency room didn't help and they stuck me with a nice bill of 3.3k despite saying VA care had it covered and giving me nothing while saying they cant do anything that i need to just go to dr, despite going to ones constantly and it getting worse. Watch out for the emergency care bill and go check in time to time because they will send it to collections without sending you bill and boom you screwed like i was. Fecking lost my 20's and some of my 30's because of this... Wish ther was an easy fix to the medical care problems.

I don't understand how American doctors and hospitals can just act like. I Don't live in the big city I Live out on a farm and there is a clinic 15 minutes away. And if I showed unannounced and said Hey, I need help. They would usually see me within half an hour. Sometimes, fastest sometimes slow, depending on how many people are there? Then I would get help and checked out. And Then I can just leave without having to pay for anything. Because doctors and hospitals are free in my country. How can my country which have free health care? So way, more people use it cashley. Have better more considerate doctors. I think it's time for you to find a new primary care doctor that's either out of town or out of state. My mom goes through the VA so I know how bad doctors can unfortunately be and how it can feel like they're yanking your chain or getting them to do anything is like pulling teeth, but I'm pretty sure your experience has been especially bad even when compared to my mom's experience. Hell, even your experience with nurses sounds especially bad compared to anything I've ever dealt with. At least all the nurses I've ever come across seem to know how to do the bare minimum of their job which doesn't sound to really reflect your experience
