As far as I can tell, there is no word that covers exactly the same meanings as the English word "irony" in Korean, although 반어 is very close. The loanword 아이러니 (airŏni) is also used in the south.

Since everyone here is getting political and defending either communism or capitalism, as a musician, I would like to say that NK will never produce music as glorious and everlasting as the former Soviet Union. I hate communism and there are aspects of capitalism I loathe just as much, but that doesn't really have anything to do with a nation's musical tradition. Russia/USSR has produced greats such as Rachmaninoff, Richter, Stravinsky, etc that really only Germany's music history can match.
