Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- Serials of multipart feature film "the Nation and Destiny", typical of the Korean film, have been released. General Secretary Kim Jong Il met with its creators and actors and actresses recently and expressed great satisfaction with the fact that they created and completed serials of the film dealing with the life of the working class as a monumental masterpiece of high ideological and artistic value. He said the multipart feature film "the Nation and Destiny" was a national treasure that would be handed down along with the history of the Korean nation. The seed of the serials on the working class is the "philosophy of molten iron", which means that as scrap iron is turned into red molten iron in the furnace, so a man with a chequered career grows up to be a loyal subject in the working class trained by the Workers' Party of Korea. The 10-odd-part film gives a vivid representation of a furnaceman's family and those with different and complicated background and their growing to be members of a large harmonious family of the Kim Il Sung's nation, moved by the appeal and patriotism of the furnaceman's family. The first four parts of the film "the Nation and Destiny" with Choe Hyon Dok as a hero were released in Juche 81 (1992), later followed by scores of parts with Yun Sang Min, Cha Hong Gi and Hong Yong Ja as heroes and heroine. Among them were a world-famous musician, men who were once a high-ranking officer of the puppet army, "government" official and religious leader in south korea, an unconverted long-term prisoner who is called the incarnation of faith and will and a Japanese-Korean woman. The film gives an ideological and artistic depiction that the prosperity of a nation depends on a great leader and the socialist system is the best in the world. General Kim Jong Il made sure that a multi-part feature film is produced on the basis of song "My country is Best", indicated the seed of the film with a profound philosophical meaning that the destiny of the nation is just that of an individual. He gave highly important instructions on 40 occasions in the first year of the production of the film.

This video looks like it was made in the late 70's. Till those years, North Korea was the best Korea. I have relatives who studied in USSR and had the opportunity to go there on those days and let me tell you, this invaluable historic footage it's accurate to the situation of NK back on those days. In mid 80's, things started to shift, as South Korea successfully developed, diversified it's economy, made less dependant from US and moved from military junta to democracy. At the same time, NK made itself more dependant on USSR aid. In 90's the Soviet union fall, Kim Il sung died and famine came...

@@itepk0522 Greek history school books do mention this .. yap , i still remember this because back when i was in my 1rst year of highschool , Kim Jong Il died and everybody on Earth , including Greece knew about it . The section of the book where that's mentioned is in the last pages , the parts about 20th century anti colonial independist movements in Africa , Greece's acceptance in NATO and her the subsequent involvement in the Korean War , the "Age of Dictatorships" ( again , 20th century stuff ) , the Soviet Union and globalization . It would've been almost impossible for a greek history book to not mention Korea since the korean war was our 1rst and last major war involvement after WW2 . A small pink section of the book told us about the economic disparity between North and South Korea making clear that the North was far more advanced than the South due to Soviet Union's/China's support up until the 80s . I think the next section was about the so called "Asian Tiger" economies of S.Korea , Taiwan and Singapore . Anyways , you get my gist ; i don't know where you are from but here that stuff is pretty well known

Back when north korea was in good shape. Thanks to support from the soviet union Back then in the 50’s and 60’s, north korea is wealthier than south korea. After the korean war, Russia gave Kim il sung a head start, he provided tanks, guns and mortars to the military, he also built pyongyang in soviet style architecture, and russia aids north korea with food and education. But during the 90’s north korea’s economy collapsed, due to the fall of the soviet union and disasters which caused a famine, causing millions of deaths. Today, pyongyang is riddled with sanctions, but thanks to chinese support and slowly, Global support, north korea’s economy is changing, slowly making the dream of reunification true.
