The new intro is incredible! You really came out of nowhere this year. I found you through your Sidon video and I've been consistently impressed by your content.

I like both intros, but I feel like some of the details could be a little more subtle, like some of the sound effects. This is a great channel, and I think it’s underrated. Best of luck in 2024!

Initially, the sound effects in the distance actually were quieter, but after doing some test uploads and listening to the intro on multiple devices, they were unfortunately very difficult to hear in the end, so I boosted them a little bit. I'll probably mess around a little more with it though and see if there's anything else I can do with it. Thank you for the compliments and thank you very much for watching!

I'm not sure where exactly you're hearing a lot of negativity about TotK. I've found that the few people who still refer to TotK as BotW DLC have mostly either not played it or didn't get very far into it, and the only other complaints I've really seen have been the absence of Shiekah tech and some people who wanted a much more linear experience because their first Zelda experience was more linear, which was never what this game was going for (though it's certainly a bit more linear than BotW, but finding the right balance between open and linear has always been something the Zelda series has been about. It got too linear for a bit, but overcompensated a bit with BotW.) There are tons of linear games out there, and there are plenty of fully open games as well. Too few games use aspects of both, and I really feel like pushing the Zelda series away from one of the major things that makes it more unique is absolutely a mistake. Exploration is another huge pillar of the franchise. Between the sky, depths, and caves, there's a lot more new area to explore than in BotW, and the surface isn't exactly the same as from BotW either with The Upheaval having changed bits of terrain everywhere. The old regions and NPCs all have new stories, and there are new NPCs as well. In general, the NPCs are more involved as well than they were in BotW, where it felt like half of them were basically just wandering merchants. The world basically feels a lot livelier. The gameplay itself is also completely different from BotW just because of how different the powers themselves are. No game is perfect, obviously. The only notes I really have on it for improvements are: * The tears should've shown the memories in order, regardless of which you found first, because unlike the memories in BotW, they *can* spoil each other. * The depths should've had an actual town somewhere. I'd recommend the Subrosians under the Hebra region near all that magma, but there are a lot of ways they could've handled this. * There's a loading screen tip that whistling will call the sages to you. If this actually worked, that'd've made them a little easier to use. Having it interrupt their attacks would be especially important to avoid them launching your loot off cliffs. * Gliding through falling sludge should knock you out of gliding instead of reacting no differently from gliding through air. * The usefulness of Sidon's ability needed to be explained better. It's the *most* versatile sage ability, but most people never realize what else it does besides creating a little water shield that you can throw. I found the game to be a ton of fun and even went as far as to complete it 100% (even all the koroks).

I think more hardcore Zelda fans just had unrealistically high expectations and a very specific checklist on what they wanted Tears of the Kingdom to be. Most casual fans and gamers were impressed with just playing an improved version of Breath of the Wild with a bigger map and unique abilities. The core gameplay loop is pretty fresh since a lot of the time is spent in caves, the sky and depths. Not to mention overworld exploration being transformed by all of the contraptions you can make.

I just think Totk is an amazing game when you play it, but an awful game to try to complete that was never made to be completed. And die hard fans are at the completing stage of their gameplay, and are trying to get through it even if it's not that fun.
@GossipGeist

That's a pretty valid point as well. I love to 100% Zelda games and BotW was quite a beast to fully complete. TotK is far far worse and more time consuming to complete with yet again, barely any incentive to actually do it.

I'll be honest, 2023 felt like a horrible year for Zelda lore. Not because of anything the fandom said or did, but because it felt like Nintendo really threw it all out to start over. I feel so much less invested in it than I did before.

That's kind of the feeling I'm starting to get as well. Before I completely believe that that's actually the case though, I'll wait and see what their next Zelda game is like.

I like both intros and don’t understand either of them 😅. I had to unsubscribe from Commonwealth Rlm. because I can’t hear half of what he says. The worst part is that his unscripted videos were great for me. During the lead-up to TotK, the sound quality and content in his unscripted vids were easy to hear and understand. They were like news broadcasts. I loved those! But the scripted stuff, his voice is lower and often fades out halfway through the word. Plus, the sentences are so long that I get lost. I guess I’ll continue to listen to the first minute and see how the audio sounds. Best of luck this year! I’ll go check out the couple of channels I haven’t seen before that you mentioned!

My microphone kind of does the same thing to me randomly, it'll just decide to not pick up certain words as well as others in the middle of talking, it's most likely a goofy microphone issue on his end sometimes. I appreciate your honesty! Thank you for looking into the other creators I mentioned!
