Appreciate your vids - they are very uplifting. It took me 2.5 years to get my PPL, what with training only part time, weather, instructors leaving for the airlines, starting a family and moving across the country. But got there in the end, thanks in part to the continual encouragement from yourself and others.

Way to push through! How many hours did it end up taking you?
@joemalpass63704 ай бұрын
A little over 90. I had five (I think?) instructors at my first school. Three left for airline jobs, one permanently grounded himself for medical, and then after just about wrapping up the last of my training with the last one, I ended up moving from MD to OH, so had to get a new instructor and school. Needless to say, this resulted in a lot of repeated training. Luckily at my new school I was able to stick with a single instructor through completion.

Congratulations, Charlie! I’m glad to have found your channel a while back, I love that you aren’t full of yourself and you seem quite down to earth. Your content is always interesting to me and I always kick around the idea of “what if I had an airplane of my own”. While I still feel like I could never afford one I love learning from your lessons and to swallow my own pride, I’ve made a few of the same mistakes myself. Will we be seeing more content in a Kodiak?! 😊 My only suggestion… update the ‘B’ roll clips!!!! They’re always the same clips!!! lol, but awesome work and I look forward to the future!
@AirplaneAcademy3 ай бұрын
Thank you! Don't give up on the dream, it's doable! Yes, I plan to do more in the Kodiak. And working on new b-roll now too, have some big shoots I just finished and more coming up that will freshen things up some :)

This was an interesting video, from an aviation KZbinr perspective. It really showed your growth trajectory, and what’s possible for your aviation KZbinr community. I really loved seeing the progression, and how you incorporated various aspects into your production and production cycles. I think I’m still not there yet, And probably will be a one-man show for the future, but I definitely see now what resources it takes to get to your level. So, thank you for this video, I don’t know if you realize it would be a tutorial for your other aviation, KZbin Peeps)! Be well, and congratulations on that. Amazing milestone!

I don't think I was one of your first subscribers, since I think I discovered you about the time I was looking to start work at a flight school at Addison Airport. (It was probably March 2021.) I've been wanting to fly for a long time, and have had quite a few false starts. I think the next time I start, I'll be able to follow through. I really want to get through my CFII. I may or may not go to the airlines, but I do at least want to get into instructing.

Merchandise would be cool, but I tend to be a fan of subtle merch... the sort of thing that is clear if the onlooker focuses on it and is knowledgeable, but isn't shouting "I have money (and you don't)" at random people passing by... For example the freebie AOPA cap I got (that they don't sell on their web site!) is one of my favorites because the stitching and the cap are approximately he same color, and so people who know what AOPA is, will recognize the logo and are more likely to notice while people who don't know what AOPA is mostly won't notice it.

Congratulations, Charlie! Love your vids! Random question: You own a Cessna Skylane 182 with a 2-blade propeller. Most 182s use a 3-blade propeller. Why do you use a 2-blade propeller? Do you plan on installing a 3-blade propeller in the future?

Thank you for the informative videos. I want to start my journey for my PPL. What book(s) would you recommend to study for the written exam? Thank you in advance.
@AirplaneAcademy3 ай бұрын
PHAK (pilots handbook of aeronautical knowledge) would be a good starting place. You can buy it printed or the FAA also offers the PDF online for free. That will get you exposed to a lot of it but you'll still need to go through ground school to learn the material and get a written endorsement before you can take the test. Many platforms offer that online and some flight schools offer it in person, too. www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/phak

Congratulations! I’m new to your channel. I was looking for something like this because my son is training to be a pilot. He’s at about 200 hours and is starting to work on maneuvers. I was looking for something that would educate me better so I could be a better contributor to the conversation. You have a lot of boxes for me. I wanted somebody interesting didn’t talk too slow. What videos would you recommend that I listen to that would help me get caught up and be a better part of the conversation?
@AirplaneAcademy3 ай бұрын
Hi there - thanks for watching! Are you looking to learn aviation concepts and the actual ground school, or what it's like being a pilot, or what specifically are you looking to learn so that you can contribute to the convo? Lots of good channels out there. In no particular order some that I like are FlightChops, Flight Insight, Schmiiiindy, Angle of Attack, Aviation101, Erik Johnston, Just Plane Silly (satire). There are so many now they are hard to keep up with them all but I think it is making aviation more accessible which is a great thing.
