Well done Peter/RODE! That absolutely impacts my purchasing decisions. There may not be a solution to the problem that in some cases, battery replacement with shipping may be more expensive than purchasing a new unit for tiny and/or cheap gear, but for better quality gear, the approach of designing the equipment to allow user replacement of a consumable like batteries is the best approach.

I pretty much buy all of my products from Rode and am so happy that i've been supporting a company that has a great team. I am certainly looking for some more products that have replaceable batteries! I had a dead mic from them and I was in Germany at the time. It was no problem for me to send the product to them and they replaced it without any questions. Yes, I hated not having a mic, but they came through and replaced it for me. So thank you Rode!

That's why i love my tentacle sync and track units. They provide kits to easily replace the batteries yourself and still support their first gen units. I think the new rode units are promising.
