Well done Peter/RODE! That absolutely impacts my purchasing decisions. There may not be a solution to the problem that in some cases, battery replacement with shipping may be more expensive than purchasing a new unit for tiny and/or cheap gear, but for better quality gear, the approach of designing the equipment to allow user replacement of a consumable like batteries is the best approach.

I just sold my Wireless Go II and try to get rid of my Rode Interview Pro as well for exactly the inbuilt battery problem. If / when Rode indeed implements user exchangeable batteries, I'll gladly buy from them again 👍 either way, thanks for staying on that topic, Curtis! You are indeed a Hero! I pretty much buy all of my products from Rode and am so happy that i've been supporting a company that has a great team. I am certainly looking for some more products that have replaceable batteries! I had a dead mic from them and I was in Germany at the time. It was no problem for me to send the product to them and they replaced it without any questions. Yes, I hated not having a mic, but they came through and replaced it for me. So thank you Rode!

I have bought many Rode products over the years (Rodecasters, many mics, stands and accessories), but have avoided buying these as they are not maintainable, but Rode will certainly be a purchasing option now. We need to be able to use electronic products in a sustainable manner and avoid this casual e-waste policy. Well done Rode for taking this position.

That's why i love my tentacle sync and track units. They provide kits to easily replace the batteries yourself and still support their first gen units. I think the new rode units are promising. But i dont buy audio solutions unless i know i can replace the batteries at some point in their life cycle.

I’ve owned rode for the last decade plus and I’m amazed by their service. 5yrs after owning the rodelink filmmakers kit my mic started hissing. I reached out to rode and they sent a replacement no questions asked. I have been using the rode wireless pro for the last year and I would love to see a battery backup option when you’re in a bind like a watch battery as a backup to the rechargeable internal battery.

Big win for customers of these products. I believe that companies that will design devices with user replaceable batteries will be in a better position long-term. Congrats Curtis! Our main criticism of the Mevo Start has been that there is no user replaceable battery. Mevo also listened and designed the Mevo Core with user replaceable lithium batteries.
